Default Madeleine Peyroux

Has anyone else heard of her? I think she's one of the better jazz singers out there right now. Her voice has been compared to Billie Holiday which is I think is a pretty accurate comparison. She has recorded some great cover songs and has released four albums. My favorite album by her is probably Careless Love.

"Don't Wait Too Long":

"Between the Bars" (Elliot Smith cover):

I love the Smith cover, though I'm no ES fan.

i've liked her before but this is a different sound that I'm digging.

I think her later albums are less jazzy. She's definetly still a jazz singer but I think she's expanded her style a bit.

Like one of my faves "Blue Alert":

What a beautiful voice...absolutely loved Blue Alert. I'd definitely be interested in hearing more.

Very nice. I would love to hear the album myself.

The album Careless Love:

I personally think it's her best. If you like it, check out Half the Perfect World. Her later work is a lot better than her earlier stuff, IMO.

OK listening to the album now. It's a little TOO smooth in parts for me but on the whole it's still good and love the brass work too. This will definitely get more listens. Check out Melody Gardot if you have'nt already manny. I am sure you would like her.
