Can someone point to a good Noir Jazz genre album or musician

Like Bladerunner blue - Vangelis? or autumn in newyork - Miles Davis?

Have you given a listen to Duke Ellington's Anatomy of a Murder soundtrack?

Try the soundtrack for the film 'Ascenseur pour l'echafaud' (Elevator to the Gallows), composed by Miles davis (if you haven't already!). Man, some of the coolest jazz I've ever heard. Will get you in the mood in no time .

Exclamation Thanks to Jackie Boy; as follows,

I've been on Kyoto Jazz Massive all morning, And , judging by the size of the discography, I'll need a long time till I'm ready to dismount this "Jazz Steed".
Which tracks contain Astrud Gilberto, she's my all time "smokey voice". Oh Yeah My Suggestion is Dimitri from Paris, Cruising Altitude, I dont know what jazz noir is, this is more like jazzanova with a pourpose, Jazzitude if you will.

Ther is a lot of the Noir style in jazz. Its just hard to find albums that carry that style consistently." Black Saint and the Sinner Lady" by Charles Mingus may be a good choice.

Its difficult because Noir doesn't define much.... IMHO Black Saint doesn't fit my view of the genre, but then again, everyone has a different view. Worth checking out anyway.

Khmer by Nils Petter Molvaer is worth checking out, but thats got electronic elements...
Bohren & Der Club of Gore is more dark than Noir but may be the sort of thing you're looking for (Of course, this is an old thread )

Old thread, I know. I have been looking for some Noir Jazz myself lately. As mentioned before, Noir could mean many different things to different people. The one album I found that epitomizes the genre is Pinero by Kip Hanrahan. Another is Planned Penetration by Kozo... Both of these feature the trumpet, which I dig and both on iTunes... Still looking for more. Report back with additional finds in the niche genre...
