Jack DeJohnette is so distinct it’s hard to find something that he’s not on that sounds like something he is on. Anyway, you might like these two:

Driftwood
Album by Brian Blade, Larry Grenadier, and Wolfgang Muthspiel

Chiaroscuro
Album by Paolo Fresu and Ralph Towner

Almost 50 years too late it’s time to take notice of this revolutionary guitarist

If he’s still alive we all owe him an apology

ADHD

Fantastic band.
Quite melodic and groovy but with a nice experimental edge.
Very tasty and tasteful. Can't believe I've never heard of them before.

^ I hadn't heard of them before today. Definitely want to check into some more of their music after listening to that performance.

I've been listening to Toronto's Jazz FM a lot lately, and during Jazzology a student from Mohawk U queued up Avishai Cohen - One For Mark. I was really digging the odd time signature, piano lines, upright bass, and smooth percussion.

A quick glance at RYM has a reviewer who remarked, "Wonderfully played, wonderfully put together modern jazz album. Avishai plays a unique blend of post-bop, Israeli folk and classical that is rather complex yet accessible."

I'll have to check out the rest of this LP.

I just want everyone to know that Mu Part 1 & 2 by Don Cherry is so great

If you’re not familiar with this one and like avant garde jazz it’s completely essential

You’ll have a friend for life. It’s so good
