Alrite Id like to know what Jazz albums yous are all listening to. Im fairly new to the Jazz scene (about 6 months or so). First got into Miles Davis,John Coltrane, Pat Metheny, Stan Getz and more recentley Thelonious Monk. I have just purchased another Miles Davis album to add to my collection 'On The Corner' (1972).
Im listening to this album right now and it is absolutely fantastic to hear Indian musicians paying tribute to Miles Davis. If you havent heard it I suggest you check it out right away. I would go on and post loads of jibberish about all the jazz albums Ive got but I cant be bothered just now and Ive noticed theres a section on your profile where you can add albums or something so might give that a try.

Miles Davis and John Coltrane are wicked. If you'd like something more modern check out:
Avishai Cohen - Continuo
Vijay Iyer - Accelerando

Absolutley amazing stuff!

Steve Oliver

Stever Oliver plays Spanish guitar with an Eastern flavor, I think mostly Indian. Try the song Global Kiss. I like it very much. A lot depends on what types of lead instruments you like. (So far I haven't liked many songs with a lead electric bass.) What fusion styles you like with the smooth jazz. Fast or slow? Odd or generic?

At this moment, Charles Mingus - Mingus Ah Um.
Otherwise I've listened to a lot of Coltrane and Billie Holiday lately. "Blue Train", "A Love Supreme" and "Africa/Brass" by Coltrane, and "Solitude", "Songs For Distingué Lovers" and "Velvet Mood" by Billie Holiday.

"The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady" is another Mingus album I've been enjoying lately.

The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady is my favorite jazz rekkid of all time. What an album!

Recently Don Cherry's Eternal Rhythm (free jazz) and A Love Supreme. Actually, some Out to Lunch (Eric Dolphy) as well, which is fantastic.
