Posted this a couple of months ago in another thread, but I'm listening to it again and it fits this thread too...
http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/...ps738b9014.jpg Bill Evans & Jim Hall - Undercurrent (1962) Very mellow late night type of music from jazz pianist Bill Evans and jazz guitarist Jim Hall. Perfect to drift off to after a long day and a couple of cocktails. |
I'm currently listening to Blue Train by John Coltrane, Thinking Ornette Coleman after.

Cecil Taylor - Nefertiti, The Beautiful One Has Come This is one of my favourite free jazz albums, and is most definitely my favourite from pianist Cecil Taylor. It also has sax musings from Jimmy Lyons which are pretty good but honestly could be more adventurous, but it's from 1962 so there wasn't much abstract sax to work off of from him. Lastly we have Sunny ****ing Murray playing some of the best drums I've ever heard. Cecil's the focus point but man, Murray really steals the show on this one. |
Sun Ra - Sleeping Beauty

Listened to this in my headphones the other night for the first time. Didn't want any distractions. I know, no excuse for never having heard this before as it's one of the cliche "great jazz albums of all time" but I am just dipping the toe into jazz really. Overall, a transcendent experience. Blew me away. |

Just got this one to listen to but after that I was thinking of checking out Blue Train or Giant Steps. But maybe I will try that Interstellar Space. |
