I love Funkadelic/Parliament and I don't know who Dr. John is... so my awnser is going to be George Clinton, even if he is a crackhead.

Dr. John is deep. Read the book "Under A Hoodoo Moon". This guy has been around, he is like the living history of New Orleans music. Check it out.
