I'm looking for some essential Braxton to dive into. I listened to my copy of Duets 1976 last night and was very disappointed.

He's got so much stuff. I honestly haven't come across anything by him that I didn't like, but For Alto, Silence, and Eight (+3) Tristano Compositions 1989: For Warne Marsh are all pretty great. I'm sure that rostasi and OH have some good recs too.

Dafuq? Was it the incoherency with the traditional stuff mixed in? I like that record. I respect him for playing it straight like that. I suggest giving it another chance and coming from a place of no expectations.

I gave this a listen earlier today:

The Reason Why Vol. 3

I just felt he meandered a lot on it. It was my second listen. Just didn't hit me right. Thanks for the suggestions though guys.

I know that most people here donít agree with me on this point but with some artists you just have to trust them. Itíll take you there but you have to recognize itís beyond a personal critical assessment. Thatís what the ďunassailableĒ thing is about it.

Honestly, I know it doesnít make sense to people but I stand by this. Occasionally forgo judgement and approach it like you would an experience with nature instead of art. Just let it happen.

That's how I generally approach artists.
