Jazz is a really broad genre of music, what kind of stuff interests you? Noisy and experimental? Dancy? Mellow? Heavily orchestrated? Simple? Old? Modern?

I will say that I think most jazz fusion from the 70's and 80's is crap. Except for Weather Report and anything else that Jaco Pastorius did.

does anyone discuss disc jockeys of the 50s who played jazz? don't remember most of the names, but my favorite was Phil Mckellar. His theme song was written by Geo Shearing named the feller mckellar.

Those are a few new jazz groups that I think are fantastic. Enjoy... I hope.

You'd better be ready to add Herbie Hancock's collaborations with the Headhunters to that list of exceptions or there might have to be some words spoken...

The Manhattan Transfer is pretty good. So is Linda Eder, though she doesnt always do jazz.
