"Born Under A Bad Sign" - Albert King

I was so proud of myself when I learned how to play this on guitar, isn't the most original choice, but hey... the blues aren't something I've delved that much into.

Elmore James' version is one of my favorites, also

goodfoot 11-20-2009 02:08 PM

odetta, hit or miss, more jazzy blue's, maybe leaning more in the jazz side, all the same a cracking tune, from the gospel/folk singer.

goodfoot 11-20-2009 02:44 PM

junior wells , snatch it back and hold it, dirty blue's from the badass harp player, could blow a tune from a blade of grass!!!

ribbons 11-20-2009 03:36 PM

Love the Odetta track, goodfoot. Never heard that one before. Thanks for posting.

Junior is so awesome - especially when paired with Buddy:

goodfoot 11-22-2009 07:51 AM

wynona carr, jump jack jump, feel good jump blue's, not enough rock'n clubs up north, these kind of tunes starting to creep in to mod night's, bring it on.

goodfoot 11-22-2009 08:03 AM

young jessie, hit git and split, ooh yeah, rock'n blue's from the golden era..

goodfoot 11-22-2009 08:30 AM

hank ballard & the midnighters, lets go let's go, gotta kinda gospel feel, hank ballard was the original twist man, chubby checker's cover was the smash hit though, some royaltes for hank ballard probably why he didn't kick & fuss to much...

jackhammer 11-22-2009 06:38 PM

I think at least with Electric Blues I have to always plump for this track as a perfect entry to the genre:

as for something a little more raucous then this is bloody great:

Papa George Lightfoot - Wine, Women & Whiskey(or Wine, Whiskey & Women)

goodfoot 11-26-2009 12:14 PM

slim harpo, scratch my back, staying in the deep south, more swamp blue's, from arguably the best.

FadedMyxomatosis 11-27-2009 03:01 PM

Blues Boys Tune by BB King, well anything by BB King actually.

Is Dazed & Confused by Led Zeppelin considered blues? Because that's a great song too.

goodfoot 12-02-2009 01:29 PM

big joe turner, honey hush, good rock'n blue's, the roots of rock'n roll, i prefer these versions..
