One of them would be EEVUHL BY HOWLIN WOLF. I mean just listen to it ffs
for this particular bloke i might have also chosen 'Spoonful', but i always thought that had too much swing to qualify as a really bluesy tune |
"Stones In My Passway" and "The Girl I Love She Got Long Black Curly Hair" play well together
|
Of course I can't pick one but here's one OF my favorites.
Nobody can holler the blues like Charley Patton |
bb king, heartbreaker, great r&b dancer, blue's boy puts his heart & soul into it..
|
lighting hopkins, mojo hand, sounds like a real hobo blue's man...
|
willie mabon, seventh son, killer blue's from the nine fingered pianist..
|
Albert King - One bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer.
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Tightrope, Rude Mood, Crossfire, Ect. Pretty Much Everything he ever recorded. B.B King- Sweet Sixteen Ray Charles- Drown In My Own Tears Eric Clapton- Before you accuse me, Anything off of the Live in 76 record |
bullmoose jackson, nosey joe, 1950's dirty boogie,
|
dion, drip drop, the king of doo wop, with a great slice of r&b, he has a blue's cover album in his back catologue that's worth a check, ciao..
|
johnny winter, talk to your daughter, johnny winter cranks an old blue's standard through the roof....

It's not my favorite blues song but this New Orleans style ditty by King Biscuit Boy from his 1971 album Gooduns kicks out the jams. It's called Bald Head Rhumba Boogie. King Bisuit Boy was actually Richard Newell a Canadian guitarist and harmonica player who played in the 2nd edition of the Ronnie Hawkins backup band, the Hawks.
Prior to Richard Newell's involvement, the first edition of the Ronnie Hawkin's Hawks was Robbie Roberton, Richard Manuel, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson and Rick Danko who went on to acheive international noterity as The Band and as Bob Dylan's road band from 1966 to 1967. |
model t slim, shake your boogie, great juke joint blues.
|
'nything by howlin' wolf ;)
|

"She was right next door and I'm, such a strong persuader. She was just another notch, on my guitar" For me, I like blues with a strong rhythm section, so like: BB King- Ghetto Woman Etta James-Straighten it Out Albert King- Stormy Monday and Born Under a Bad Sign Freddie King-Going Down to Kansas City Led Zeppelin- Since I been Loving You, Black Dog Koko Taylor/Susan Tedeschi-Voodoo Woman |
My favorites
Some of my all time favorites...
Muddy Water's Iodine in my coffee Jimi Hendrix cover of Born under a bad sign Dave Wagstaff's Whats in a woman  |
Love all srv songs, the sky is crying. Robert johnsons when you got a good friend and me and the devil blues, so many!!!!

^that's real Blues
Here's a couple more.. Big Fat Mama Blues by Tommy Johnson and Oh Death by the master, Charlie Patton |
I wish I knew more about the older generations of blues artists...
Jimi Hendrix - Red House J.B. Hutto - Hawk Squat Joe Bonamassa - Funkier Than a Mosquito's Tweeter Led Zeppelin - When the Levee Breaks Allman Brothers - Whipping Post much Roy Buchanan and SRV |
I think Jimi Hendrix's rendition of Red House at Woodstock is some of the best blues guitar you could ever hope to hear.
|
Got My Mojo Working - Preston Foster (specifically Muddy Waters cover)
Telephone is Ringing - Pee Wee Crayton Pee Wee Crayton is a Blues man that doesn't get nearly enough attention in my opinion. I remember I was first introduced to him when I bought a mix taken from Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour show which had Telephone is Ringing on it, practically had to stop the car to listen to it. Muddy Waters' Live at Newport 1960, which has Got My Mojo Working, is by far one of my favorite blues albums. Hoochie Coochie Man is another great song on that album. Those are two of my favorites, I'm sure there are others. |
My fav blues songs would be in no order.
Robert Johnson- Stop Breakin Down Son House- Grinnin in your face Son House- Death Letter There are more I like but those 3 I like a lot |
I would embed but....I still need 5 more posts before I can link or embed anything into these forums haha.
One of my favorites that I do not think has been mentioned yet is Bobby Bland - Two steps from the Blues "I'm so forgiving, I'm so forgiving and I can't go on living two steps from the blues" Beautiful song, sang by a very soulful singer! You can listen to this song on youtube. |

I'll Play the Blues For You
...I'll Play the Blues For You is one of my favourite Blues songs...very sensual...at one time I envisioned having a radio show...with that being my opening song...
******* ...I really like this version by Frank Marino... ...all Your loneliness...I'll try to soothe I'll play the Blues for You... |
B.B King - The Thrill Is Gone
Freddie King - Going Down John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers With Eric Clapton - Ramblin' On My Mind Are probably my top 3 classics, but latterly I have enjoyed stuff by Mayer and Joanne Shaw Taylor. |
Well Tab hasnt left his mark on the Blues to the extent of the company that surrounds him in my post. However the more I listen to his music the more im digging it. From down in the arm pit of the world (being south Louisiana). He seems to be full of that soulful nack that it takes to play the Blues. From his songwriting skills to supererb style of playing. Its encouraging to know there are still modern day Blues artists out there keeping the genre alive. As for the other two artists posted their reputations are explanation enough of their accomplishments. I hope you find these particular songs to your liking as well...Enjoy Blues lovers |
RIP Gary Moore...your music lives on...
I'll Play the Blues For You... "It is with deep sorrow and regret, that we have to announce that Gary Moore passed away while on holiday in Spain last night. Our thoughts are with his children, family and friends at this sad time. Gary Moore, RIP 1952-2011" |
