I used to have mild insomnia, where I'd take daily naps to compensate for sleep deprivation. I'd literally be laying there, half asleep half awake, fully aware of what's going on around me, but disfunctional at the same time. It's hard to explain.

Your body gets used to a certain amount of sleep. For our age, I'd say 6-7 hours is more than enough. If you can't get that much, then there's a problem.

Relax. My problem was that my head wouldn't turn off when I wanted it to. I kept reprocessing the previous day and amounting too much stress. THere's no way anyone can sleep with that.

As naive and immature as it sounds, smoking and drinking yourself to sleep isn't that bad of an idea. They even have herbal teas that help you relax before sleeping. Or, try more exercising. Forcing fatigue into your body, along with the daily dose of school and work, plus a nightcap of your favorite drink (and maybe a smoke too, wink wink) will give you more than enough to fuel a good night sleep.

oh yeah, my average is about 4-5 hours of sleep. I dont even drink coffee anymore. not entirely sure what causes my insomnia, most likely stress, but after a while i've gotten used to it. then every month or so the lack of sleep will catch up with me and i'll get sick with something which will lead to days of drugging myself up on day-quil, asprin, and whatever medication helps me through the day, knocking myself out with nigttime cold medicine, and then repeating the process until it goes away, usually after a week or so.

once again....it's 5:30am.....no sleep....wide awake...maybe i should just let it ride it's course...i'll get up arround 3-4pm....then go to sleep arround 7-8am the next day and so on until i get to the normal times to go to sleep...

jibber 10-23-2005 09:32 PM

yeah i tried to do that, but then i only end up getting 3 hours of sleep, and then i stay awake all day long, and once again, can't fall asleep until 4 or 5 in the morning. so no matter what i do, i just dont sleep.

so poppin sleepin pills is the only solution?

jibber 10-23-2005 09:42 PM

i dont like to do that, so i just drink tea in the morning, coffee started to make my stomach hurt, and then i always stop at around 5pm, but even after the caffeien wears off, i still cant sleep. I've decided i'm just screwed. but sleeping pills would most likely work

i actually had a thought that i'm not sure if i would like it if i had no control over falling asleep...somehow it reminded me of narcosis if you know what i mean...then i got a bit freaked out....i don't know how it works, never tried it, but i got a mental image of falling into darkness and you can't help it.....freaky.....

I'm having the same problem from a month ago, 4 example, last night I slept at 6:00am, thx God I didn't have course only from 13:00 to 16:00,

and these days, what makes it harder, is that I fast until 17:35 and I drink my coffee at 21:00 which makes me sleep toooo late :(
and I refuse taking any pills, since if I start, I know I'll never sleep without cos I'm too dependant to any of these thgs!!!
