Fair enough, and there were some places that asked for no smoking anyway, with or without the law so that it was a healthy enviroment.

I thought it was classified as being "addicted".

How are smokers treated like scum?

Well it's common knowledge that just under 25% of NZ smokes. I don't see why non-smokers would vote for smoking still in pubs.

The law is kinda an example, it's not the smokers fault yet they get penalised. Businesses could easily pay for extractor fans so smoke didn't waft, but got sucked straight up.

Yes.And the DHB classifies an addiction to a drug be it alcohol or drugs to be an illness that needs proper medical/psychiatric help where applicable, but smoking does not come into that.

Try walking through town or watching something like for example a concert and lighting up then you'll see the dirty looks you get from people.I had one woman watch me light a smoke yesterday and she looked at me as if I was going to kill her in cold blood.

That's where I'm lucky I guess, my boss doesn't give a rat's arse if I smoke at work. His opinion is instead of staff going outside to smoke everytime which equals lost productivity let them smoke in the wharehouse.
By the way he is also a non smoker.
