For all you Australians, you will have seen this in the news. For others, here's a link.

Basically, a couple of young, white lifeguards got attacked by a mob of people of Middle-Eastern appearance. As revenge for this initial attack, a mob of 5000 people went and bashed anyone who looked remotely Middle-Eastern. This mob ran riot with Australian flags while chanting racist slogans. 31 injured, 22 arrested, 2 stabbed, cars destroyed as well as police threatened with beer bottles and having objects thrown at them.

Personally, I think this is appalling to have happened somewhere as visible on the world map as Sydney and in this day and age. I'm pretty much speechless...

goes to show you, the pretence of racial tolerance is just that , pretence, from france, through the us, to australia, the most developed and supposedly liberal countries in the world, and yet, these things happen.....the most ridiculous thing is, that although europeans obviously feel threatened by the overwhelming amount of immigrants and what it means, countries like the us and australia are based on immigrants, so the whole " go back to where you cam from" is quite ridiculous, you're not natives, you are all immigrants and racial purity is ridiculous.....but racism isn't specific only to white people, just look at zimbabwe, although, they do have a right to be fed up with being exploited by white colonists, it's still racism and it's still unfair.....also, in a lot of countries in north west africa ( ex-french colonies ) it's enough that you're white to be in mortal danger after the recent events, france meddling in the internal affairs of those countries....it's all very sad...and disillusioning.....

yes, and i'm sure they would, only problem is, there's about 2.5 of them, white people are a majority and that's why they think they have a right to dominate the country and feel threatened when there are more and more non-whites coming in thus threatning their dominant position.....

i must say i am ashamed. the middle easterners were wrong in bashing those (volunteer) life savers, and then claiming the beach for themselves, but what the surfers (their whole mob) did was terrible. I'm ashamed, but i've always hated Sydney anyway.
