i agree with this. As for whether or not i would get in someones face, well that would depend on what it was and how strongly i felt about it, im not one to take it easy on someone if i feel it is worthy, as some people on here have come to know. I guess being accepted isnt as important to me nowdays and in a strange twist, gets me accepted because all in all i think my morals are good ones.

I think that straight edge is ridiculous.
Millions of people live their entire lives drug-free. They do not feel the need to drink alcohol, they do not participate in casual sex, they do not put harmful substances into their bodies.
These people have been living for decades and have never felt the need to give themselves a label.
Straightedge, in my experiences with sxe people, is merely a way to conform. Many do not become straightedge because they have seriously considered the lifestyle decisions they are making. They call them selves edge to mold themselves and to become accepted into a scene. Leading drug free lifestyles should be the norm. But these people who have given themselves a label, are the equivalent of any other elitist group. Be it Nazis, or Aerians. The motives may be different, but the outlook on others remains the same.
Why give yourself a label? Live the life. Dont call yourself straightedge to make yourself feel superior to others.

But is it really hurting anyone by them being sxc? Excluding those few who brag about it.

I can't say I'm keen on straight edges, I much prefer curves. Guffaw.

Now, personally I'm not straight edge. I don't do drugs and I enjoy the occasional drink and however much of the naughty business I can get up to. That's how I choose to live my life. I don't care if someone else chooses to live there life by denying themselves all of the above, it has no effect on me whatsoever.

I can't understand why people would wilfully decide to direct almost violent hatred at these people just because a small but vocal minority of their number choose to inject a feeling of superiority into their preaching on the subject. Is anybody who needs something so utterly superficial as preaching about drugs and drinks in their lives really going to be somebody with an opinion worth being bothered about?

It does seem strange that they choose to preach against the dangers of excessive drug and alcohol abuse when the very people abusing those substances are the ones least likely to actually give a toss what anyone with an X felt-tipped on the back of their hand has to say.

As for the first bit, really, I can't see why the vocal minority can't just be ignored. There are kids out there for whom straight edge and the preaching is an attention thing, and the first chance they get to go at in the sack with a hottie and they'll be renouncing the faith, we all know that, so by ignoring them, denying them the attention, they'll probably eventually get bored of it and move onto the next phase they are going to go through.

It's all a part of growing up.

Well, kind of, but I'm not sure whether excessive orange juice would kill you in the same way excessive alcohol abuse or drug abuse can.

Although high doses of vitamin C can cause stomach aches and diarrhea. I'm worried for those JuiceXcorE kids now. :(
