Argument and debate are the tools of learning and ultimately lead to knowledge.

In Tibet, Buddhist Monks are encouraged to argue and debate between themselves on topics they may not necessarily agree with.
The point being is to understand the subject fully.

If you come to a conclusion after an argument...it means you have'nt thought about it enough.

In a purely inquisitive manner:

I just want to ask what the purpose of this is. Whats the message behind this thread? Is it a suggestion that we as a forum are becoming too pc by not allowing arguments to fully develop into informative conversations?

Or should we just remember what an argument really is?

Basically me and Franscar?

Take from it what you want, I had my reasons for posting it. I could tell you why, but I have a feeling that if I told you why I posted it people would get defensive (you know they would) and it would loose its meaning.

By just putting it up, you get out of it what you put into it.

And Alejo, what are you talking about?

G'wan. You can tell us!

Scarlett O'Hara 12-30-2005 01:54 AM

I already know, it's about the sxc thread. How are we supposed to "learn" from this if we don't know what our individual faults are.
