I think the forum is in need of something new to freshen things up.

Something like this perhaps.....

No, that arguement is arrogant pollution. Green Day is argueably punk. If they put it in the Jazz forum I might say something. But the issue here is everyone here clings to ideals from the 70's. Punk has been transcended. Its fact. Just because GD doens't meet your standards of what punk is doens't mean you should inore someones point or argument and attempt to force your opinion on them.

And yes Urban, I agree with you completly. It keeps us all informed and creates constant discussion.

People have been bitching since....always? Right? This is nothing new.

Well while we are all bitching (apparently all the time and 12 hours/day), I want to add that I would love to see increased activity in the forums that are NOT General or Rock/Metal. That would be nice.

I think the problem with that is, those are the most mainstream forums. =/ I for one would like to see more activity in the emo forum..but neh. I think people just need to start doing what they can, inviting people and being optimistic instead of extremely negative. Alot of the senior members are leaving and shiz, but that doesn't mean the sites gone to hell. Theres still plenty of posters just as good as the old ones its nearing summer, MB typically isn't the most exciting place 'round this time of year...

TheBig3 04-11-2006 01:24 PM

ok well the members that have left are jibber and RAR, and they didn't post all that often, so i don't think this was a massive blow to MB, we'll just miss their occational insight. I would not call this "members leaving."

They are not "arguably" punk, they are not punk at all. I'm not being elitist or a silly billy but it is the facts. Sure, some might call their early albums pop punk which would therefore make them a punk band but in reality they are not.

I said senior, and maybe leaving wasn't the right word, but most of the posters from my n00b days have left/rarely post now.

TrampInaTux 04-11-2006 01:46 PM

For all the fuss that is being created I cannot see what the big problem is. Like Big3 said, Jibber and RAR were senior members but to be honest they weren't the most exciting members of this community. It's nothing to burn down houses about. So a couple of people left-everyone is turning their leaving into a problem with the site, suggesting that them leaving was because of the faults with the site and not because of personal reasons. Not everything revolves around MB! I don't know about you lot but I will continue to post for a long time-MB is my favourite site and has been for a long time. The people on here are superb, the genuine talent that can be seen from the Song Writing forums is immense and I don't know about you lot but I have grown to feel that I know you guys even though I don't physically know you. I can't see MusicBanter buried in the ground at any time in the foreseeable future, and I don't think anyone would want that to happen anyway. So instead of being part of the problem let's be part of the cure and like Urban was doing think of ways to improve MB. This is a revolution!
