They are Pop Punk, so I suppose you could say they are Punk but notas you would call the Sex Pistols or the Dead Kennedys Punk. Could you honestly say that Green Day could fit into the same genre as the Sex Pistols.

you can't answer it, its subjective, and punk has always have one foot in the pop market. Theres nothing that says punk can't be pop. Being pop doesn't make something not punk.

In fact I'd argue that punk was a movement back toward pop.
