Have you seen the commercial? Did you know that surprising as it sounds, you can actually support the troops and not support the war? Lending them the song would be supporting the troops, not pushing a political agenda.
And he tried to justify the actions after the douche started asking question after question and bringing up old quotes of his, etc. The Godsmack guy didn't start the interview with the idea of pushing his political ideas on to others. Unfortunately, the interviewer did.
