Close lipped is closer to accurate than close minded.

Anyway, I choose not to jump into the middle of discussions about bands I don't know a whole lot about. If that makes me close minded, you're certainly entitled to your opinion.

As far as being forced to listen to my daughter's music, I run the show around here, and if I didn't want to hear it, I wouldn't hear it. My daughter is free to listen to whatever she chooses. Same as my Mom let me explore, she's free to do the same.
suit yourself, i didn't mean to say that you absolutely HAD to make your presence known in every thread you vist, but certainly in every thread about a band you actually bothered to check out. but i would say those are few and far between....until you prove me otherwise....( and no, you don't have to prove anything to me, but i also reserve the right to call you closed minded till further notice :-/ )

yes, yes it does...you know why? because you're on a music forum that deals in great extent with new music and yet you stick to music you already know...you're either closed minded, lazy or you don't have the time to explore ( and you can't convice me of the last option because if you have the time to write these extensive posts, you certainly have the time to download an album or two )

don't get your knickers in a twist, David here has made me check it out and i was happy to oblige him, it just so happens that northern soul didn't do anything for me, my geezer music comment was only a joke, anyone is free to explore it...

Because if not, then there is a double standard as to what 'close minded' means.

*EDIT* I also forget to mention, besides the cds I bought for my daughter, I have bought for myself in the last few months, Bruce Springsteen's new cd, which consist of folk, country, a touch of bluegrass and even some ragtime. I've also bought the new Dixie Chicks cd (bland compared to their other three), and James Blunt, not to mention Dean Martin's greatest hits.

Also, I own 4 cds by R. Carlos Nakai. A Native American flutist. It's very enriching, spiritually. I own a lot of music like that. Exploratory stuff. Can you make the same claim?

I'm not hear to argue, or cause trouble. It simply disturbed me to be considered close minded when I know I am probably the owner of a wider variety of music than most people here.
lemme try to answer some of your questions:
my music collection spands some 50 years, i got a bit of elvis and the rolling stones, aretha franklin, nina simone, the supremes and so on....genres? pretty much everything except for norwegian black metal
no, it doesn't work only one way, anyone who isn't prepared to at least give a certain type of music a go is closed minded...and if i had more time and money my music collection would be double the size it is now...but alas...

And just because I don`t like *some* bands doesn`t make me closed minded. Wouldn`t close minded be not listening to them at all?
true, that's why i voted for jr., not you...

adidasss, you are certainly entitled to your opinion of me. It doesn't get my 'knickers in a twist' at all. It would take a lot more than something as trivial as someone else's perception of me to get my fur up.

And, I've no problem with you whatsoever. Your one vote for jr. as 'Most Close Minded' poster certainly isn't going to shift my calm.

But wait...you nominated two people....but can only vote for one. What now?

I can see by a lot of the comments in this thread that there are a lot of people who think you are close minded. How does that make you feel?

edit: and i do believe i've managed to get your fur up, judging by your responses...

No need for excuses. I don't think many care for what he thinks.

No, not at all. My responses were calm, level headed and well thought out. Same as any post I make about music. I goof around in here, same as anyone, but no one will ever see anger from me. It's not how I live.

Well, I am off to work, good citizens of MB.

Good for you. I wish I could live like that, but alas I've always had a c*ntish streak.
