I may sound cruel, but I think hunting is okay in almost any case. As long as its not like endangered or anything. I use a compound bow to hunt with my uncle. I also have a long bow, but I simply cannot get the power out of that to damage anything, simply bounces off whatever it hits. Well, of course, I'm from Michigan and its like a HUGE hunting state. I grew up in a hunting family, my father and a few of my uncles. Fall is deer season and in the spring I go "sucker spearing" where a few friends and myself go up north into creeks and stab fish with a spear. It is quite a lot of fun. This year we were too late, the suckers had already ran through the stream and we ended up getting a large mouth bass and I was able to stab a crayfish.
Funny story......well not so funny to some, but free speech, whatever. My friend once hit a deer with her car and we parked at a gas station and walked back to see if it was okay. It was laying barely breathing and we could tell if was going to die. We decided to ask a house for a shovel to put it out of its misery. Well, it died while we were looking for a shovel. In the car following us was a friend of mine and her father(HUGE hunter). Well they finally got to the site and he decided "oh, lets get a kill tag from the police and we can have us some meat". So we got the kill tag and he gutted it right then and there with a pocket knife and put it in his trunk. Well he ended up getting quite a lot of meat from it and gave some to my friend who got her car busted up. hehe. And there was deer hair stuck in the front of the car for months afterward.
