So that bird there thought that anecdotes about people misjudging your nationality would make an interesting thread. I don't particularly agree, but I figure that it might help people (particularly Raine and Ma Cherie) get these things out of their system.

So, the question is, do you have any interesting family history, ancestry that you want to tell us about? Or have you been mistaken for anybody of another nationality or whatnot? Do you have a great-grandmother who went to Ireland once when she was a child, which means you're now 'Irish'?

If so, for God's sake write about it here. Nowhere else. This thread!

My anecdotes:
I was walking through Delhi (as you do) when this skinny Indian dude runs up to me and introduces himself. He then tell me that the only reason he came up was that he thought I looked just like Shah Rukh Khan and felt it was important that he told me this.

Shah Rukh Khan is Indian. I am blond. I wouldn't really say we look similar.

Oh, also people from other countries tend to assume I'm Australian (my 'Australian accent' apparently') or Irish (no explanation on this one). They never seem to guess that I'm English, for some reason. I've got wonky teeth, so I would have thought it was obvious... This happens to me in the ****ing UK too!
