Nope... What do you personally use it for?

[MERIT] 11-04-2006 12:31 PM

To keep in touch with friends from high school who've moved away mostly.

holdyoualways 11-04-2006 03:52 PM

tdoc210 11-04-2006 04:33 PM

[MERIT] 11-04-2006 05:04 PM

[MERIT] 11-04-2006 05:06 PM

Merkaba 11-04-2006 05:08 PM

There are way too many of these things I reckon.

You have to be signed up to like 5 or 6 just to make sure your hooked up to most of your mates.

I don't use any of them, but I keep getting invites from alsorts of places.

[MERIT] 11-04-2006 05:10 PM

im basically only friends with people i know on there.......unless she's hot, then it doesnt really matter if i know her or not:p:

MoonlitSunshine 11-04-2006 05:16 PM

Most people in Ireland use Bebo. It's insane the number of Irish on it.

[MERIT] 11-05-2006 09:45 PM

MoonlitSunshine 11-06-2006 11:30 AM

I'm not on facebook, that's my excuse..

Seltzer 05-19-2010 01:14 AM

I thought I'd bump this thread to let anyone who doesn't know, that MB has a facebook group here (hope that link works).

Bulldog 05-19-2010 10:58 AM

I only ever use facebook to keep in touch with my Mum these days. Everyone else on there I either have better, less spammy ways of keeping in touch with or they're people I barely know from highschool or college that I could give less than a shit about. I do remember joining that group some time ago though, so I'm there somewhere.

IWP 05-19-2010 11:04 AM

I have a face, and I have a book, but I ain't got a facebook. =P

crow t robot 05-20-2010 04:16 PM

I'd be happy to honored to have any of you audio aficionados as a FB friend..just mention musicbanter in your request

Facebook's become boring as hell in the last while. I only really use it to keep in contact with friends don't see too often, it's gonna eventually die like Bebo...

FETCHER. 05-20-2010 04:51 PM

I love facebook :O, I'd say for me, it's doing the opposite of dying! :D

TheCunningStunt 05-20-2010 04:59 PM

Facebook is becoming too annoying to use.

Everyone 'liking' shite idiot things. About 6 friends liked a status about how it's a joke that foreigners are offended by England flags but aren't offended by our benefits. Idiot Xenophobes.

OMG-Facts are starting to piss me off as well. I'd stop using it but it's a good way to keep in touch with a select few people.

Zer0 05-20-2010 05:09 PM

The whole 'liking' things and joining groups thing has really ruined facebook for me. I only join groups or 'like' pages that actually have a real purpose such as band page. In the past few days i've noticed people liking pages with really, really long names...

This could be the end

Yeah, I've only ever liked bands and now recently because of the shift of layout in the Information I've 'liked' films and TV programmes just to fill out the information. People are joining them about the most pointless moronic things.

The long name ones are "OMG-FACTS" I think. It used to be a really good site back in the day, Bebo was for the chavs, Facebook was more studenty.. Facebook has turned into Bebo.

sidewinder 05-20-2010 06:04 PM

I use Facebook but only for people I know in real life! No MB'ers allowed. :D

Ok well I'm friends with a few people from another message board that I was on for like 3 years but that's different...it was a really small intimate group.

Harry 05-20-2010 06:05 PM

My mates recently made me get a face book... It's really pointless I hardly use it. Though it was rather interesting to take a gander at all the photos of me there'd been mulling about the Internet..

Sansa Stark 05-20-2010 06:13 PM

Facebook just denied me changing my name to Patrick Bateman, pissed

Scarlett O'Hara 05-20-2010 06:26 PM

I don't mind MBers adding me, but make sure you say who you are because I ignore randoms.

Who gives a shit if clicking your knuckles is actually good for you despite popular belief? Certainly not me. They need to fuck right off.

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 05-20-2010 07:58 PM

this page liking/fan page shit is such a disaster. and they had to go and make everyone's interests and music and books and all that have pages as well, even if no one has made a page for it, even if only a few, or even NO people like the page already. wtf? it was a much better site when it was simpler.

This really pissed me off the other day when it happened. Next thing I know I go to my profile and it says I liked 50 different things...dammit I didn't need to broadcast it! Had to delete all that ****. Worst thing about that is now you can't just type random stuff in the interests, like a description. It has to be an actual thing/show/band/movie/activity/whatever. Before I had a link to my last.fm profile in the music section, now that can't happen. Thanks for the warning Facebook, when you asked if I wanted to link my items, you didn't bother telling me it would wipe out any other content I had in there.

I'm not as upset as I sound. I got over it, and added more bands. I just deleted the status updates regarding my likes.

Seltzer 05-20-2010 10:12 PM

It pisses me off too... with the suppression of descriptive text, it's basically ListBook. And I don't like clogging up people's news feeds every time I want to make the smallest change to my profile so I delete the status updates too.

jackhammer 05-29-2010 07:59 PM

As an aside I think Facebook is one of the worst internet sites ever. A young lad of 14 recently committed suicide after being habitually bullied by 'friends' on the site. Also a girl was killed after being stalked on the site.

A couple of incidents like these are infrequent but it's still an easy way for cowards to intimidate people so FB can go shove it. It's all a stealth plan anyway. It's tantamount to spyware IMO.

Most new mobile phones bought these days have the app built in WTF? Is it a pre requisite to join it whenever you buy new technology? I know it does serve a function but it's not essential at all.

Freebase Dali 05-29-2010 08:09 PM

^ I've been hearing on the news about laws being put into place that make cyber-bullying a crime because of these events on social networking sites. They've already begun campaigns to host preventative public service announcements on television channels that kids watch, in an effort to curb bullying behavior.
So at least this is in the spotlight and efforts are being made.

someonecompletelyrandom 05-30-2010 05:03 PM

jesus.

anyone who gets into that much trouble using facebook takes it way too seriously.
