In the simpliest terms I can phrase it, American Football Is the one place in american soceity where one can impose thier will on another Physically. To answer some of your qustions,

There are 40 secons between plays typicly if the team leader ( Normally the QB) cannot orginize the play in that amount of time he calls a timeout to keep the team from receiving a 5 yard delay of game penalty .

The clock stops when a timeout is called or a forward pass does not reach an offensive player.

There are 25 seconds between each play.

Edit: Oh, professional is a bunch of wankers, they do 40. College does 25.

Actually, the Super Bowl is the most widely viewed professional sports championship besides the World Cup Final.

Urban Hat€monger ? 11-13-2006 08:23 PM

Actually the FA Cup final is a lot bigger than the Superbowl.

484 Million people watched last years FA Cup final. All I can find for the Superbowl is 95 million and thats worldwide audience figures.

That estimate of the FA Cup final audience seems a tad high - a better estimate from a marketing website is 161 million - 90% of that would be from outside the UK by my reckoning.

Incidentally the European Football Championship final should also be cosnidered - the 2004 final between Portugal and Greece attracted approx 150 million
