The best eastern ( influenced ) folk music out there is Beirut. What did you have in mind? Balkan ( gypsy ) music or slavic traditional?

Seriously I do like both. Slavic more than Balkan though. Right now I'm checking out Matt Elliott who like Beirut isn't living in that area. Good stuff.

I gave a link to Right-track a long time ago to some Croatian folk music, I'll see if I can track it down again (I'm not sure you'll like proper Balkan gypsy music, but I'll try to find something).
