Also, Archie's Sonic The Hedgehog comics (not connected with the game canon, but whatever) depict the Echidnas as being more powerful than any other creatures on Mobius (save Ixis Naugus, Mammoth Mogul and other characters while in their "super" forms), some of them do indeed possess supernatural powers, while Knuckles's main abillities are of course his gliding, climbing and digging abillities as well as his super strength, he does have the power to sense chaos emerald energy as well.

Of course Echidnas dont worship Satan, I don't know where I got that from.

Wrong, while Sonic Heroes and Shadow The Hedgehog were luckluster overall (but still pretty playable), and Sonic Riders was just horrible, the two Sonic Adventure games for the Dreamcast (and later ported to the Gamecube) however were f*cking awesome, save the consistantly annoying camera which is a problem for 3D platformers in general, everything else was in good form... It was actually a promising start for the series in a 3D environment which unfortunately didn't carry on to later games like it should have.

Sonic next gen was a disapointment, but I have high hopes for Sonic & The Secret Rings which will be coming out for the Wii this March... Indeed the series needs more "juice" (as Sonic himself would put it) and I think if Sonic Team were to bring in some new blood that would do the trick, since there are some fresh faces working on S&TSR hopefully we will see some major improvements, the game itself looks like it will be a great change of pace for the series, perhaps it will be the "real" reinvention of the series that Sonic next gen promised it was going to be but didn't live up to that title.

The 2D games will always reign supreme, even newer ones like Sonic Rush, which mixs 2D and 3D together in a rather creative way.

Overall the 3D games lack the magic of the 16-bit originals, but they are far from bad, all they need is some improvement, and Sonic would fare in a 3D environment perfectly.

Ethan, if you want to play the old school games (and since you're a Gamecube owner) then you should get Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Gems Collection, the latter is worth it for Sonic CD alone.

No it dosen't, he's a man who is shaped like an egg, so Eggman is a very reasonable name... Besides, his official name is still "Ivo Robotnik" but ever since Sonic and pals started using the insult "Eggman" he has begun using it as his nickname.

Plus he was always refered to as "Eggman" in Japan, most people there have never heard the name "Robotnik".

I know, and he would turn into Super Mecha Sonic to make matters worse, he wasn't too hard once you got the hang of it though.

The hard part is actually trying to get that far in the game as Knuckles, Ice Cap Zone is hard as balls when playing as Knuckles.

yeah i own the two your talking about, sonic adventure and sonic adventure 2.

but you gotta admit playing as knuckles and listning to the corney rap tunes in the background was lame in both of them.

and playing as "big the cat" fishing adventure was just stupid...

sonic and the secret rings definitly looks to improve..but then again thats what people thought with sonic heroes...

but im more of a nintendo fan then sega....

shigeru miyamoto has proven that he can hold up to todays modern audience far better then sonic team..

the Sonic games will be timeless classics, Sonic 2 had to be my favorite, never really got into any after Sonic 3, and i also remeber the tv show when i was younger....that was good

nope but there was a tv show...i bought a 3 episode vhs copy once for 1$, gave me some laughs-it was still better then the new "sonic x" crap

The only thing that annoyed me about Knuckles levels was that damn radar noise, which got really irritating, but of course thats what volume control is for.

Bigs Levels are the only ones I didn't like in the first one, though they were very easy to beat.

I never said they were flawless, but they are still very good games.

And how did Miyamoto get involved with this?... If you like Mario more than start a Mario thread or something. :laughing:


In Sonic Heroes, Team Sonics game alone made for a very good time, the problem was that the three other "teams" offered no real variety in gameplay, they all played through the same levels in the same order, with only a few changes for each time, the only major change is Team Rose in which half of each level was removed, which was kinda pointless... Overall it's a decent game that could have been a hell of a lot better.

Sonic & The Secret Rings looks a lot more promising however, and like I said, a lot of new names are involved with the project.

Actually, there was an anime movie from 1995, which had a limited DVD release in the states as "Sonic The Hedgehog The Movie", most fans refer to it as "Sonic OVA"... It was composed of what were originally two episodes of a failed Anime series... It was actually pretty good, save the mediocre voice acting.

And there was not "a" tv show, there were "3" Sonic cartoon series predating Sonic X, the best of these being "Sonic The Hedgehog" or "SATAM" as it's known to fans... It was part of ABC's saturday morning lineup and it only lasted two seasons, it was the basis for the Archie Sonic comics which are still in publication today, the whole two seasons are coming to DVD this year... There was also "Sonic Underground" which lasted like three seasons on UPN, and then theres "Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog", which most agree was the worst one dispite also being the most popular and longest lasting, it's the one you're refering to I believe.

SATAM > Sonic X > OVA > SU > AOSTH

i was simply just saying since they were both rivals(sega and nintendo) ultimatly won, as you can see by all the sonic games being released on the wii and gamecube.

what i dont understand is why sonic team feels the need to keep adding new characters when its pretty clear what fans want..

Same with sonic adventure! Im always utterly confused at how they incoporate a giant two-leg walking blue hedhog into a realistic world...but whatever

They even managed to mess up 2-d sidescrolling with the psp game, sonic & shadow or whatever its called..

me im more of a nintendo fanboy, but i wont start a thread, because when ever i bring up everyone calls me "kiddie", apparently if a game doesn't have non-stop violence, dramatic plotline, sex but still manages to be fun it sucks..
