what did I do?

adidasss 05-28-2007 02:41 PM

You said something really stupid.

Kevorkian Logic 05-28-2007 03:14 PM

I do that sometimes, its a bad habit. Last summer there I made friends with a German kid who tried to break the habit by only talking to me when I spoke a degree of intelligence. It worked until he flew back to Germany.

Aubrey0163 05-28-2007 05:04 PM

It is possible... But make sure she knows u want her as a friend and nothing else.

berv 05-28-2007 05:23 PM

whats this have to do with music? who cares. ur probably *** anyways, u didnt go for it? definitely ***

berv 05-28-2007 05:23 PM

:finger: whats this have to do with music? who cares. ur probably *** anyways, u didnt go for it? definitely ***

right-track 05-28-2007 05:29 PM

Your right...it has absolutely nothing to do with music.
That's why it's here in the Lounge. A place to post non music related topics.

If you don't care...don't post.
Add something to the thread, or STFU.

right-track 05-28-2007 05:35 PM

adidasss...Kerv Logic has a point.
Depending on the circumstances though.
If I suddenly acquired a female friend and began hanging around with her (one on one), my wife would want to know why.

And I seriously don't think a "we're just mates", would cut any ice.

pheurton 05-31-2007 12:54 PM

Friends yes, but from experience I wouldn't say good/close friends because
women are two faced ****s :]

holdyoualways 05-31-2007 01:02 PM

i think its REALLY hard to be just friends with a guy
any guy ive ever been friends with ive always wanted more
then i got over it & decided just to be friends
so i dont think its impossible, just a little hard

Ok but, this isn't about you and your wife, it's about you and this hypothetical girlfriend. Naturally, you're a man's man so I don't really see you hanging out with chicks, but still, it's theoretically quite possible...if you dispense with all the social expectations and predestined roles bullshit...

It's about what the wife would think.

Seriously...if a married man was to suddenly start hanging out with another woman (who she didn't know) I doubt she would just shrug and put it down to just a friendship.
Even if it was an innocent' just mates' relationship, the other half wouldn't see it that way...

Well it's like most women have no idea what love/trust means [emo]:([/emo]

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 05-31-2007 04:27 PM

I'd say it's absolutely possible for a man and woman to be friends, buddies, and nothing more. I have plenty of female friends. I expect nothing more than friendship from them, and as far as I know they feel the same way. It just depends on the way both people feel. They have to feel the same way or else it becomes impossible.

I realise my posts in this thread may sound like I'm against your race in some way but I'm not. I guess I'm just unlucky in love, men are bitches as well.
But there is no denying that females are more devious.

cardboard adolescent 05-31-2007 07:59 PM

yes... curse the female race

Alexander the Grape 06-01-2007 12:05 AM

If its not possible for a male and a female to be friends then how come girls always tell me that they "just want to be friends"?

Just kidding.

They don't even want to be my friend.

Actually, though, I finally met a girl in this ****ty town that I really like, and for some reason she seems to like me too. However, I don't know if she just likes me as a friend or as something more. I wouldn't have to worry about that if guys and girls couldn't be friends, now would I?

Bane of your existence 06-01-2007 01:13 AM

It is. One of my great friends here is a female.

Of course she's also a negro so that may be why.

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 06-01-2007 01:23 AM

Why does that change anything?

Bane of your existence 06-01-2007 02:08 AM

I said negro. Didn't you read that part?

DontRunMeOver 06-01-2007 04:20 AM

This thread strikes me as bizarre. From my perspective, it's very easy to be friends with women and for it to be nothing more than that. I have lots of female friends, and I think that my friendships with most of them would be not much different if I (and they in some cases) were single. By which I mean there is no sexual aspect. Well, not from my point of view. Of course when people look at me they just think 'sexsexsex' but that's not my fault.

If you think girls are bitches to guys you should see how bitchy they are to each other.

And if you've been screwed over by a girl I'm sorry. Just don't get too caught up on ranting about how evil those girls were and make sweeping generalizations and we'll be friends.

The question is a little offensive. I realize I speak from a slightly different perspective, but the reason why I thought Kevorkian's (and not only hers) post was ridiculous is because saying male-female friendships are "unnatural" (in any circumstance, whether your married or not) implies humans are not much better than animals. So two people have a vagina and a penis and suddenly they're unable to control their impulses? They simply can't help but to feel attracted to one another?? What kind of bullshit is that?

Yeah...I did read that part...but I don't understand why it would have anything to do with the fact that you are friends with this person.

Screwed more than once. I wasn't ranting I was bitching, though I'm sure there are some decent pieces of crumpet to be found p.s your friendship means alot.

thanks babe, that's really sweet.

And sorry again you got screwed, I've only gotten screwed once in my life and it was like 4 years ago and i'm still bitter about it. So you have my full sympathy if you've had it happen more than once.

I'm used to it I guess, though I'm pretty young so I guess there's more **** to come. My god I sound so emo :(

Kevorkian Logic 06-01-2007 06:24 PM

just a bit emo.

You're very cynical though for a young person (I assume you 15ish if you're calling yourself young)

dana d 06-01-2007 09:14 PM

It's definitely possible for a male and a female to be simply just friends.

Decent men, generally, appreciate a female with a respectable reputation and don't push farther than the set boundaries. Even if it is just friends.

It's nice to have a genuine opinion from the opposite sex.

haha no of course I'm older than that, I'm not that contemptuous though I guess I'm kinda self deprecating at times. Although I have no reason to be optimistic because things don't work out the way they should, why build myself up.

Back on subject, I guess if you can truly trust a friend no matter what age, sex or if they're jewish or not. Then that's hard to find, so I wouldn't be bothered if there was any tension between female companions.

Sneer 06-02-2007 07:04 PM

no. never. male + female = sex and love.
...

of course it bloody is.

Kevorkian Logic 06-03-2007 11:35 AM

but don't you find there are situations when there is absolutely 0 sexual tension?
