Hmmm, normally my favourite bands are based more on instinct than number of plays. In fact, my top 20 overall bands on last.fm wouldn't be my favourite 20, stats aside.

Then there's the fact that some bands have short songs and thus receive more plays than others. E.g. the Beatles are my third most listened-to band on last.fm but they're not my third favourite band ever. Porcupine Tree manages to make it to second place, despite having longer than average song lengths - my fifth most listened to song on last.fm is 17 min long.
