It's a boy.

I know you're all probably getting sick of the updates, but we went for the 20 week scan yesterday and it's a boy :)

(woo!)

adidasss 08-21-2007 02:48 PM

Lol. Congrats man. What'll you name him?

littleknowitall 08-21-2007 02:56 PM

Cheers dude. I was thinking Mica.....i know, i know, really shouldn't name your kid after someone from a sci fi series but really liked the name....i know the misses' uncle died and we ended up with most of his stuff cause we're kind of struggling at the moment so she wants to put in one of his names, 'Kinsey' as a middle, but honestly i havent a clue what the baby will end up as, i'm quite font of strong welsh names or celtic names, Tamlin, Gwyddion, Myrddyn, Llyr, Lliw, etc. But she'd never have it, and i don't blame her really :p
It's taking my last name anyway, anyone got any suggestions for boys names feel free to throw 'em out there, girls names were so much easier.

jackhammer 08-21-2007 02:58 PM

A Welsh name would be the bollocks, keep the tradition up! Good luck my man.

I call for a home circumcision.

I'll do it for you if you feel to much of a pansy. I have an excellent pair of nail clippers.

right-track 08-21-2007 03:04 PM

Llewellyn would be really cool.

Congrats mate.

Togehter me and my new welshy friend shall throw off your shackles of welshy-opression R-T, just you wait!!!! :D

Nah, thanks mate, and i quite like the name but she wouldn't have it, she's Welsh but she was born in Germany and travelled alot what with her dad being in the RAF and seemingly hasnt been injected with a healthy dose of patriotism, she hates the way things in Welsh are pronounced like 'll' 'dd' 'ch' etc.
Not going to happen, she liked Tamlin, but it's scottish and kind of difficult to guess if it's a boys name or girls if you dont already know the legend of Tamlin. :/

So i'm really getting stuck of names anyway.... :(

Girls names were so easy too.

In ancient times the Anglo Saxons stole the vowels from the Welsh and left them to speak in a strange and mysterious tongue, consisting only of consonants.

True story.

No you fool. LOTR names (Elfish ones) are based in Finnish and the human names are based on Gaelic not Celtic.

No, but I appreciate history and the Welsh are more British than I am (a brummie!), and I hate to see any sort of tradition die out.

Gaelic languages are Celtic languages.

Celtic -> Goidelic -> Scottish Gaelic, Irish, Manx

You get nothing, you lose. Good day sir.

Oh cool.

Well she likes Caden, which i quite like too. But we're still looking through, there are some really god awful names out there too if you look hard enough. o.o

Gaelic is one of the languages of the Celts.

adidasss 08-21-2007 04:00 PM

Yeah! That's what I meant to say...

right-track 08-21-2007 04:02 PM

I think that's what Fal means...

That Celtic isn't a language, per say.

But that the names come from the Gaelic language.

littleknowitall 08-21-2007 04:06 PM

Daryn- welsh
Caden - welsh
Joshua
Kinsey
Finlay - scottish
Cameron - scottish
Maddock - old welsh

Our current saved list in notepad.

to get back on topic, anyone got any suggestions for names? i'd really be interested in hearing some. as long as they're not really ****ing common names, i want a name for the kid not many people have but wont get them bullied in school.

Well no. That's like talking about a language is the same as modern English when it's based on Shakespearean era English. It's not completely different, but neither is it the same.

right-track 08-21-2007 04:10 PM

Caden.

I always thought Finlay was Irish.

Don't pick Cameron...

...Cameron Jones!?!

Barnard17 08-21-2007 04:11 PM

Call him Devan.

At the top of that list in notepad is our current decision which is Caden Joshua Kinsey evans, Kinsey has tostay in as i previously explained and we needed a third name so it'd sound right.

Oone of my girlfriends choices but she said her mother mistook it for a womans name earlier and it's put her off a bit.

jackhammer 08-21-2007 04:19 PM

My two lads are called JORDAN and KYLE and they seem to be okay lol. My youngest (kyle) has REECE as a middle name-how about that for a suggestion?

Shakesperian English is called Middle English and is a cultural mismash of many languages including Saxon, Fresian and French.

Sorry littleknowitall, I don't mean to hijack your thread!

Barnard17 08-21-2007 04:24 PM

Well no, that would be Devon to be a girls name. Devan has balls to it. It's like the difference between Robin and Robyn.

If not Devan go for Tristram.

Never heard of that one, has a demonic kind of ring to it though, which evidently isn't a bad thing at all,

Guiseppi
Bartholomeau
Archibald
Frederic
Winston
Santiago

Greatest names ever. If your girl won't go for one of those, then tell her after she gives birth she can GTFO.

Evynn Evans, has a certain ring to it.

I used to know a Morgan Evans.

Owen is a nice name for a lad.

Before your kid gets hell at school, Tristram is the fictional city in Diablo 2. Can that one for good.

sleepy jack 08-21-2007 10:56 PM

I'd give your kid a more secular middle name to fall back on in case you guys ever leave wales (I don't know if the names you're suggesting their are common or not), because if England is anything like America, an unusual name will probably get your kid harassed throughout school. Just a thought.

Blain 08-21-2007 11:26 PM

Definently name him Blain.

He'll get all the chicks (h)

sleepy jack 08-21-2007 11:33 PM

Actually thats not a bad idea, I know this dude Blain and he has like, a different bitch every 2 weeks. All A+ bitches too.
