Omg, there were people putting those mini flags all around campus today and bumping the national anthem. Seriously, it sucks that they died, but it's been how many years?

Someone mentioned that there would be a 2 minute silence at work today, I was far too busy condemning the American way of life to notice.

Alexander the Grape 09-11-2007 09:13 PM

is 6 years long enough?

http://encyclopediadramatica.com/ima...radecentre.jpg

to commemorate the anniversary the xm country station that I have to listen to at work played all of their overly nationalistic country songs (yes, including the boot-up-your-ass one). That ****ing offended me. Especially this one where some dumb redneck was singing about how the war in Iraq had to do with protecting our freedoms and Osama bin Laden (maxlolz) and he even glorified the killing of innocent civilians. Thats far worse than any jokes about 9/11.

I don't find those funny Grape, but I probably should, the second one is damned creative.

I don't think it's ever too soon, I think of it like I think of racial slurs; While it's not something I consider offensive at all ever, it's almost never needed and any person is smart enough to understand a lot of people are hurt or upset by them and you are increasing the chances of violence, so why do it.

While Grapes posts are actually pretty creative lampoons, and I am not personally offended at all, I do think we'd be better off without them.

Alexander the Grape 09-14-2007 01:16 AM

:-\

I would probably care more if people in the US gave a **** about the hundreds of thousands of people being killed in the rest of the world every year.

I obviously think it was a tradgedy, but its hardly the worst the world has seen in the last 6 years (Darfur anyone?). And laughing over something always eases the pain and makes things easier to accept. Its not to show disrespect. Have you ever heard cops joke? They're very tasteless, but they have to be to stay sane and get through the day.

all I originally intended to post was the :-\
:(

The Dave 09-14-2007 09:12 AM

Yeah man, like Darfur, Uganda, Congo... all of those places are going through far worse **** but since they're not a driving economic force, we don't really give a ****, which is ***. It sucks that the people died, but we need to stop treating it like it was Armageddon.

sleepy jack 09-14-2007 09:22 AM

But it was Armageddon because it was American people.

The Dave 09-14-2007 09:28 AM

I know rite, the all important equation 1A=10,000E

Where A=American people and E is just everyone else.

sleepy jack 09-14-2007 09:29 AM

Yeah we pretty much own.

adidasss 09-14-2007 11:22 AM

Em, you're a Canadian.

sleepy jack 09-14-2007 06:42 PM

Yeah they pretty much own.*

sleepy jack 09-14-2007 07:39 PM

But it happened in America. It's the same thing as people in Nigaragua caring more about the 100 or so people that died in Hurricane Felix recently than they cared about Sept 11th. Or people in the houshold of the three officers that were killed in Texas caring more than they cared about the people in 9/11. It's natural.

This one really bothers me, to make fun of someone jumping to their death because out of desperation is a little sick, no offense meant. The other lampoons were ok though, this one just seems to have taken it a little too far.

Yeah, the others weren't so bad, distasteful but tolerable. But this one got me too. I think it's bad to trivialise somebody's last few moments alive, especially in a case like this. The images of the towers themselves may conjure images of America owning everybody else becuase that's all society seems to give a **** about. But this person didn't deserve what happened to them, nor did their family or friends. That image was completely disrespectful, they deserve a little dignity at least.

sleepy jack 09-16-2007 03:02 PM

For all you guys know he could've landed on one of those fireman trampolines.

Mr_headshot 09-16-2007 03:09 PM

pretty sure that wouldn't have helped much =/

p.s. I thought it was funny, encyclopedia dramatica ftw!
