Either the French have ADD or we're just really stubborn. Both are probably true.
c) The fact that we're all ****ty people is the reason why any sort of socio political economic system will never work perfectly. We'd probably still need one if we were all perfect (whatever the hell that means). That argument had nothing to do with my vague points, however.
d) I dislike Ron Paul because he is the "CHAMPION OF THE CONSTITUTION," which seems ridiculous because it implies you'll disagree with someone else's views or policies simply on the basis of what it says in the constitution. As you yourself pointed out, the whole point is that we can change it so that it fits with social currents, not stick to it regardless of what happens.

Seriously, whats more detrimental to a society? A government dictating or a business dictating. And before you bring up idiot underdog theories again, why hasn't any HMO in existence currently offered up affordable coverage for any type of problem you'd come across?

I suppose giving them more power would fix that though, right?

I don't understand your " whats more detrimental to a society? A government dictating or a business dictating?" point. When it comes to the economy, it is far better that a business dictate. Liberals rely on the government to baby them from birth, that is not what the Government is for. If you need constant care from your government, then move to a socialist country. In a capitalistic society, the government should not interfere with the free market (except to regulate quality, and to avoid monopolies). Since Healthcare is a service industry, it only follows that capitalism should not allow for government regulation. Capitalism works. Prices benefit the consumer. The problem in the United States is that, instead of the government controlling business, you have lobbyists in Congress controlling the government. Keeping them seperate is the key, and that is the current problem with the healthcare system, not the fact that the government isn't running it.

And there I think is the big split between liberals and conservatives. Liberals would love to see the government running their healthcare system. Liberals (like neocons) WANT big government. This country was established to rid its people of tyranny. Allowing the government to control and manipulate the country ceaselessly will only serve to kill this country. Liberals and Neoconservatives could care less about the constitution. Big government, increased spending, global government. It's ridiculous.

Look up for my other post.

Urban Hat€monger ? 11-14-2007 04:16 PM

Some things are better run by the government than they are privately.

Take Royal Mail for example , since that was privatised thousands of small post offices have closed , many in remote rural areas , prices have gone up , the number of postal deliveries has been reduced , there are more post strikes than ever and bosses award themselves huge pay increases despite not hitting targets.

That has nothing to do with me being liberal or conservative , thats just me seeing an industry going down the toilet since it was privatised and being run for profit rather than for service.

And have taxes gone down since it didn't have to subsidise Royal Mail , nope not in the slightest.

And I wouldn't like to see the NHS go down the same road.

How about we elect people to run privatized firms?

Well, the government should reuglate monopolies. Multiple different mail services would lower the price and increase the quality of the service. If you've got one company that runs all mail, they can charge however much they want and provide whatever quality of service they want. When you have different companies vying for your money, you get the good deal.

Much like package delivery services in america (DHL, UPS, FedEx, U.S. Postal Service, etc.). All compete for consumers. Prices stay low. Monopolies won't form because each company stands to make more money.

It's a wonderful system really. CarlJr is explaining it well.
