I'm very liberal, socially and fiscally. Clinton and Obama are both too conservative. Kucinich is the the closest Dim I'd vote for. What passes for "liberal" in the States is a joke. The entire US is skewered further to the right than any other developed nation, not just politically, but culturally, and that's the real problem here.

Americans don't realise how badly the Repugs and the Dims are screwing everyone. They must be very thankful for typical American insularity from what life is like in developed nations outside the US.

I'd be called an evil socialist or worse here in the States, but elsewhere (like New Zealand, where I am moving back to, permanently next time) I'm pretty typical. Its damn sad when you feel like an alien in your own country of birth...

Exactly. This mindset is culturally alien to the myth of "American individualism" -- you can't have "freedom" without also having responsibility. Freedom is not absolute (nor is responsibility for others) but there is a balance between the two that must be made.

But when people don't want to acknowledge that or bother with the shades of nuance, people will do anything to justify narcissism, lack of empathy and good old fashioned selfishness.

This is called "common sense" in Europe, Australia & New Zealand, but in America that is the heresy of being "unamerican."

America can and should do better than that.

p.s. BTW, I'm fond of Beckett too...

Equality will never be reached as long as there is diversity.

That sounds like something Hitler would have said.

But of course, I don't agree with ALL of Pauls policies.

I think withdrawling from UN and NATO would be disastrous and would only worsen our foreign relations. We need a better foreign policy, but I don't believe in total non-interventionism.

Still, he's the best candidate so far. He's addressing so many problems that none of the other candidates even care about.

Anyway.

Tom Tancredo is one candidate that scares me ****less, he was a horrible congressmen, and he wants to cut off all immigration, ALL of it, even legal immigration. Only an idiot would want this racist retard to be president.

Rudy and Mitt would be pretty horrible too though.

It is completely true. In a world where everyone is different how can they be the same?

Who wants them to be the same?

Diversity is not whats preventing world peace. Give a little credit to fascism, bigotry, organised religion and the greedy, lying mother****ers that run the goverment, the economy and the media.

I gotta be honest. I think the world would be boring if everyone was peaceful and loving. Tragedy is the making of great art. I have a dark sense of humor too so usually my way of dealing with tradegy is joking about it.

Aha, same. Well, that, and I can be a bit of a misanthrope/heartless asshole at times.

But yeah, the world would probably be pretty lame if it were all smiles and flowers and rainbows.
