I actually a very serious person in many ways, so I don't feel like a tattoo is anything to play games with. It would have to be something so integral to my worldview and life philosophy that I never want to forget it. A reminder of something of supreme importance to my life. That kind of thing. So far, I haven't found a symbol that really expresses anything too meaningful to me.
Those are usually pretty tacky though since they're more about message than appearance. Like the people who get something about their newborn kid put on them. Those always look stupid. I'd prefer to get something that aesthetically appealed to me rather than some self-important message to myself and the world that big **** happened to me, dawg.

That's how I am with tattoos and I am up to five. They all have a story/message behind each one. They represent certain milestones that have happened in my life. As much as I want to get a cool Star Wars tattoo or something like that. I can never bring myself to get a pop culture reference like that. I'm confident with all of the tattoos that I have gotten and can share the meaning behind them anytime someone asks instead of just saying huur duur I got it because I was wasted one night. Or I just got it because I thought it looked wicked cool.

Would you feel the same about any other form of art? Would you buy a painting to commemorate some such event and make sure that it was appropriate,or would you buy a painting because it was aesthetically pleasing?

I would definitely never get a pop culture reference of any kind. Bands turn to ****, movie franchises are revieved and made cringeworthy... nothing is permanent. I never loved Star Wars, but if I did, I'd feel pretty bummed about my Star Wars tattoo once the prequels and the Disney SW movies started rolling in.

It would have to be something the meaning of which is more set in stone.

It would have to look good, of course. But I don't know if I could think of some pattern or something that I felt like I simply had to have on my biceps or whatever. After a while, I'd probably bump into a design I like better and feel bummed out about it.

The safest bet for something that could mean something to me and also look good could perhaps be something having to do with nature. Not that I have any clue what it would be. I guess I really like trees?

I would a watch to commemorate an event. Paintings are different than tattoos. Tattoos were originally used as a sign to mark a young boys coming of age. I just prefer to view tattoos in that light to mark different life events or periods in my life.

The SW universe is so much more than the movies. They can't really do any wrong in my eyes. I like the prequels and the newer Disney ones. Episode 2 was a bit slow but still enjoyable.

Get a Mara Jade tattoo. She's never been tainted by any bad movies, and the bad books are more lovingly despised than the bad movies.

Wedge Antilles is where it's at. I loved the X Wing novels. I would probably get something related to him.

I was always a big Wes Janson fan for obvious reasons. And Corran Horn was the man. Even though they almost gave him a harem.

i've always wanted to get my avatar as a tattoo because it's a ****ing cool piece of art andI love the book so much but PKD was also an alcoholic wife beating pos so I don't think I'll ever be able to have anything relating to him on my body permanently. It'd be better off as a shirt or something I guess. I also have this Don Quixote tattoo I want because I love the symbolism but I haven't read the whole book so I feel like it's off limits.
