In 2008 I was suppose to go out and visit a friend but circumstance conspired against us.

Don't let that be a detriment, especially if you're going downtown or to major attractions. For the most part you can get by without much if any French and worse case if you at least make an effort most people will be polite in return. Most.

1) What's your absolute favourite old-school video game?
Sonic the Hedgehog

2) Where's the last place you went on vacation?
Washington, DC

3) What's the last lie you told somebody?
I told my parents I was staying late at work. I actually went to a friend's house.

4) What do you think was the most pivotal moment, period, or person in music history, going thousands of years back?
Probably the slave trade. African music is the roots for pretty much everything that is not classical music.

5) Do you listen to any music that you though you would never, ever listen to?
I was firmly entrenched in the "can't spell CRAP without RAP" mindset for several years. Licensed to Ill was the breakthrough that got me to change my mind, Even though I can't stand it today.

6) Do you think everyone has a soul mate, or is that just an idea derived from fairy tales?
When there are 7 billion people on the planet, there IS someone out there for you. The question is can you actually find him/her....

I agree with this.

I don't think the language barrier is really an issue at all actually. I have a couple friends who go to McGill, who don't know anything past grade 9 French, and they haven't had any issues. And that's with them living in Montreal for 8 months a year, not just visiting.

I understand wanting to acknowledge their culture, but it's not like you have to be an expert to acknowledge it. Some understanding of the language will do I think.

1) What's your absolute favourite old-school video game?
Warlords

2) Where's the last place you went on vacation?
When's the last time I took a vacation?

3) What's the last lie you told somebody?
That I still had a job.

4) What do you think was the most pivotal moment, period, or person in music history, going thousands of years back?

Moment? Woodstock 1969
Period? Punk Rock / DIY
Person? Mozart

5) Do you listen to any music that you though you would never, ever listen to?
no

6) Do you think everyone has a soul mate, or is that just an idea derived from fairy tales?
Total fairy tale. Though really, if you don't believe in soul mates or at least some sort of magical / extra special connection possibility in your youth - you don't have much of a heart. If you still buy into that sort of magical / extra special connection possibility into your adulthood - you don't have much of a brain.

I'll do some new ones. Apologise if I post a question that has been recently asked...

1) Where do you see yourself this time next year?

2) If you were to make a TV Show, what would be it's format/storyline?

3) What would you name your children, male or female, and any particular reason for that?

4) If you were to make music for a living, what genre would it be, and a few examples of comparable/influential artists?

5) Any genres of music that you are currently trying to get into?

6) In homage to Shaun Of The Dead, of the albums you own, which five would you sacrifice to kill a zombie, and which five would you keep?

The last one's for you Paloma :D

1) Where do you see yourself this time next year?

College, I believe. Getting my general ed out of the way and writing on the side.

2) If you were to make a TV Show, what would be it's format/storyline?

Hmmm. I think that I would make a show about a man's addiction that starts speaking to him and dominating him. A horror tinted drama I suppose.

3) What would you name your children, male or female, and any particular reason for that?

I would to name my son Fyodor after Dosteyovsky, because he's a great writer. Had I a daughter I suppose that I would name her Amelie, no specific reason, I just like that name.

4) If you were to make music for a living, what genre would it be, and a few examples of comparable/influential artists?

I'd make avant-garde guitar textures along the lines of Marc Ribot's solo work.

5) Any genres of music that you are currently trying to get into?

I'm attempting to get into hip hop, Dalek has been working well for me so far and so has Tobacco.

6) In homage to Shaun Of The Dead, of the albums you own, which five would you sacrifice to kill a zombie, and which five would you keep?

Well, I'd sacrifice the Metallica cd's that came out after ..And Justice for All. I'd keep Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica, The Velvet Underground and Nico, Ornette Coleman's Free Jazz: A Collective Improvisation, Marc Ribot's Saints, and Zu's Carboniferous.

Great queries, btw.

Ahh, Dalek and Tobacco are great. I think you would like the new Death Grips album if noisy hip hop is what you are more inclined to. As well as Oddateee, Cannibal Ox, Sole and quite a few others.

And thanks.

1) Where do you see yourself this time next year?

Finished with school, almost out of debt, and making plans to move back to Canada.

2) If you were to make a TV Show, what would be it's format/storyline?

I'm kind of debating between a film noir style detective show with the paranormal (basically just a live-action version of Hellblazer) or one about a psychiatrist who helps the paranormal adjust into normal lives in the modern world.

3) What would you name your children, male or female, and any particular reason for that?

Alexander or Alexandra. Alexander the Great is one of my heroes.

4) If you were to make music for a living, what genre would it be, and a few examples of comparable/influential artists?

Probably trip-hop, but with a full backing band like Portishead. The aforementioned band, Costanzsa, Anomie Belle, etc.

5) Any genres of music that you are currently trying to get into?

Nope, I think I've mapped out my musical preferences pretty well, now it's just a matter of schooling myself up on each individual history and refine my collection.

6) In homage to Shaun Of The Dead, of the albums you own, which five would you sacrifice to kill a zombie, and which five would you keep?

Sacrifice

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless (it doesn't play, too scratched.)
Green Day - Insomniac (Album left over from a bygone age.)
Carcass - Swansong (Same reason as Loveless.)
Death From Above 1979 - Romance Bloody Romance: Remixes & B-Sides (I didn't care for it that much, but it's too damaged to sell)
Rehab - Graffiti the World (Accidentally bought the censored 2008 version)

Keep

Killing Joke - Killing Joke (2003)
Death - Human (1991)
Strapping Young Lad - City (1997)
Corb Lund - Horse Soldier, Horse Soldier (2007)
Steve Earle - Copperhead Road (1988)

1) Where do you see yourself this time next year?
harvesting F1's, working in a better restaurant, planning a wedding, enjoying my life.

2) If you were to make a TV Show, what would be it's format/storyline?
a traveling weed and hip hop program, with lots of beautiful filmography of both buds and the areas around the world known for their landrace pheno's.

3) What would you name your children, male or female, and any particular reason for that?
male: luc, neil, leo.
female: sophia, emily, rachel.

4) If you were to make music for a living, what genre would it be, and a few examples of comparable/influential artists?
instrumental hip hop, e.g. dilla, knxwledge, premier.

5) Any genres of music that you are currently trying to get into?
naw.

6) In homage to Shaun Of The Dead, of the albums you own, which five would you sacrifice to kill a zombie, and which five would you keep?
don't own vinyl.

Goofle 04-16-2012 11:34 AM

Also, you don't literally have to own the records, just ones you would happily discard, or even ones you think would be more effective in terms of killing zombies, if you wanna get creative.
