As cliched as it sounds, I'm going to have to say 1969. Not only is there sexual innuendo in the year, there's also Woodstock, Frank Zappa at his prime, the release of Trout Mask Replica, the tour following TMR, the fact that Owsley Blues (a famous and supposedly fantastic strand of LSD) is about and ready to be taken, and Woodstock--I repeat due to the importance of this in my decision--Jesus, this would be a fantastic year to be alive.

I would love to be an honest waged luthier making lutes, sounds like a great time to me. Plus, I'd probably jam with history's finest if I made them well enough.

This one's really hard, I've literally thought for ten minutes about this one. Should I steal the lightbulb? the guitar? concrete? I'm going to go with the phonograph, I feel like we missed out on a million brilliant performances of Bach's, Mozart's, Pachobel's, etc.'s works.

I'd protect the Hell out of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. It'd make WWIII that much farther away and we'd still only have the Great War in our history books.

This one's difficult, but I think that I'd be the first to use screaming in music. That way Won't Be Fooled Again (mediocre song) nor Who's Next (really disappointing album) would not have that much acclaim and I'd be to blame for all of the lame scene kid bands out there, but I'd be there to thank for bands like Death, Gorguts, and the likes.

Why, Emily Dickinson of course. Personality comes into play a tad bit but not decidedly, she's not as bad looking as the famous half-snarl portrait of her makes her seem.

2007, which may sound weird, but I have a lot of crap from that year that I would stop my past self from doing. May make some stuff easier today.

King of some small nation that nobody cares about. Live well and try to give my subjects the best lives possible, stay the hell out of the way of all international conflicts. Or if we're going to be realistic, a minstrel. Spend my life traveling, telling stories, and playing music.

The steam powered engine. Take it back to bronze age Middle East. It's something they could actually use and make use of, and if it was introduced back then... who knows where we would be today?

Killing Hitler early is an obvious one. Honestly, there's just too many major disasters in history to choose one.

As silly as it sounds, I would just make crazy future music like hip hop or metal in the early 1900's or something. Anything besides that is just dangerous. I thought about going back farther, but I would be burned at the stake or hung or something.

Nobody. If you think about former cleanliness standards in many parts of the world, it doesn't sound very appealing.

This is a really tough one. I'd probably end up choosing a random year in the 20's, but I'd be really tempted to go a few decades earlier just to hear Mark Twain give a speech.

Inventor. I obviously wouldn't be able to replicate most of the things that we take for granted nowadays but I could at least get the ball rolling on a few things. Depending on how ancient we're talking about (pre-Bronze age, for example) I might just go with farming.

I'd go back and immunize the Native American population against the diseases that European settlers brought with them. I'd be really interested to see how history would have played out if 90% or so of the Native American population wasn't wiped out by disease.
