Good luck.

I'm also looking for a job just now.
places I'd work: record shop, bar, club, restaurant, cinema, coffee shop, supermarket, gym/leisure centre, clothes/book store...etc etc. A record shop is a bit of a pipe dream, but there are a few good ones around here so maybe when I'm at University...if i keep asking intermittently...i might get in sometime. I just don't want to work in a call centre or an office or anything ****ty like that. I've worked in a call centre before, and it's f'ucking awful. |
yeah id go for a record shop or maybe do some oddjobs at some recording studio would be nice but probably not gonna happen.......

You have no idea how much it irritates when me when I go to a record store and see albums in the wrong sections and know it wouldn't be like that if I worked there. But of course, I can't actually get a job at one of those places. :banghead: Maybe I'll put 'moderator on a music forum' on my CV and hope for the best. |
ive been working at a bar for like 7 months now, really nice i stared as a cleaner and now i clean and dishwash also i get $8.00hr
but umm yeah theve never complained about how i looked so yeah get a kitchen job but whatch out who you hangout wiht for people you meet there |
I don't think you can work at a bar if you're underaged.
|
I plant trees and make 250 bucks a day ...so if you want money do that ......
|
well i do, i dont serve drinks i dont handle liquor with expection to stocking the shevles after drop off, if you cant where you live it must be a state things(its also a highend restraunt)
|
Wal-Mart's really not as bad as it sounds, as long as you're not a cashier. If you can get into Electronics, Photo Lab, or Connection Center (they do the cell phone stuff) you'll be set. Connection Center is the easiest job in the store. Just stand at your counter all day and wait for customers to come to you. You do maybe 3 contracts a day, at about 10 minutes each, and you start off at like $8/hr.
|
Omg be a Walmart greeter that would be the sickest job ever!
|
i thnk i owuld be dissapointed in myself for working at wal-mart, i hate that place wiht a passion, of course i have alot of moral issues with large corperations, departments stores are the worst for different reasons then walmart but there really the same evil to me

yeah my parents are like that to but I really wanted them to respect me (I am not saying yours don't) but my brother never asked for money and I can see how much my parents respect him for it. So I wanted to do the same I pay for my own house and for school. And it feels great well others rely on there parents or OSAP (student loans) I feel great knowing that I will never have any debt |

I really do see your point and I respect you as much as I would if you had a job and I think we both make some really good points here which is nice.
I also think its good for the soul to have a **** job when your younger it makes you have alot more respect for people and makes you a better customer and you know the value of the dollar |
All I have to say about this is don't grow up faster than you have to. If you can get away with not working and enjoy life a little more, DO IT.
EDIT: If you enjoy work, do that, but if you don't... |
I hate work and I have been working forever and I am not grown up most of the time.
|
You have also been humbled by a **** job and realize that the world isn't the fairy tale you would rather live in (just a generalization).
|
lol it so bites when you realize its not a fairy tale the real world hits you hard
|
If you dont mind me asking lucylamppost, what jobs have you had?
|
I worked during 3 years of high school, and I wish I didn't, especially as I was already making money from business ventures.
To be honest, you don't need much money when you're living at home and at high school. Your time can be better spent with mates, (in some people's cases) doing schoolwork, or bird-doggin' chicks and bangin' beaver. Seriously though, high school years are some of the best of your life (probably sounds naive as I'm only going on 20). Of course it depends on your situation... but I think the ideal situation is to work perhaps 5 hours a week after school, so that you have enough money to buy necessary things, but it doesn't intrude on your life. And if you really need money (for uni etc), work in the summer hols. |

I never got the whole 'if you work young it'll build character' thing. If by character you subordinance and an acceptance of authority then yah, I guess it does.
|
Working young is dumb and horrible, and I don't know why I do it....except I think I got fired....but I'm not sure
