God, I'm hoping not now. It really was! The message I sent him wasn't even a paragraph! It was:

Hey, dude!

Where you been, man?! You disappear off the face of the earth? Anyway, let's get Zack and Rigsby together to chill - please don't bring the old ball n' chain, yeah? It's bro night. I've got some ideas for sketches, and we never hang anymore. Sucks.

Unless the reaction was still held over from me saying that I refused to hang with the two of them MONTHS ago, because that was my other good friend's ex, and I thought it was ****ed up, and she was on pills. I've not said anything since then.

Even if it was months ago, it seems as though she remembers it well and so, she's blown up when she see's it happen again. I agree the tone of your message is light-hearted, but if she has to reason to believe you don't wanna spend time with her anyway then it's maybe a little more understandable that she would take it seriously.

Plus you'll probably find that as far as she is concerned, there are two occasions you have said something about her that she knows of. Maybe an explanation that you were joking and offering her an opt out of an otherwise awkward situation on her part would be the best thing? Not even necessarily for her, or you, but for your friend.

LOL I had a similar problem when I jokingly referred to a friend's girlfriend as a beaver. My friend knew me well enough to know I was joking but her girlfriend insisted on seeing the message and the shit hit the fan.
