What if they're in your blind spot? It seems to unsafe. I don't like having them in either place. Can't we just give them jetpacks and get on with it?

Are you sure you'd want that?

I mean, think of it: you're on a vehicle which can just as easily cause injury if it hits you. What if it's a small child you hit, or a dog? Or worse, a fifty-year-old curmudgeon who's so busy shaking his fist at the last cyclist as he disappears in the distance that he doesn't see you until it's too late? Now you got yourself a lawsuit, buddy!

How bout you drive ten miles per hour on a thirty pound piece of aluminum right next to two ton, steel monsters going forty five miles an hour and then tell me you'd rather ride on the road?

Oh, and while I'm ranting at cyclists: the traffic lights are for you, too! Just because you CAN breeze through them doesn't mean you do! The amount of bikes I've seen sail through a red light as if somehow if they hit you they're insubstantial or something and it won't matter! Hay-soos!

RED LIGHTS?

Ain't nobody got time for that!

Cyclists don't pay road tax... They can stay on the fecking pavement. I pay £130 a year for the roads to be a bloody disgrace and them to throw up cycles lanes everywhere.. Seems rather unfair?

But how do you know whether bikers don't have cars and pay road tax also? And aren't roads paid for in normal tax also?

I'm all for bike lanes, I just think they should be part of the sidewalk rather than part of the highway where possible.

Trollheart 05-08-2013 07:36 PM

I don't mind bike lanes; we have some of those, and to be fair if you walk into one that's your own fault. But these guys are riding just anywhere on the path, so that it can become unsafe just to go for a bloody walk!

And Batlord, I'd rather have a rickety aluminium frame on wheels being outclassed and bullied by the traffic on the road than being superior to my soft, fleshy frame which can't even pitch me off it if I get hit. Anyway, they wear helmets don't they, or are supposed to? And most of them treat the road as if it's theirs in any case; seldom see a nervous cyclist. They just zip in and out between the traffic. Let them stay there: they're bloody TRAFFIC, and there's no room for them on the path. If I walk out on the road I can get hurt or even in trouble with the law, though we don't really have your jaywalking laws here. But it's frowned upon, mainly because IT'S A BLOODY STUPID THING TO DO...

This is how road tax works here... If you drive a massive car with loads of emissions they charge you more. If you drive a diesel it's pretty cheap and if you drive a car like mines (small engine, petrol) they will rape the **** out of you. Any car that is on the road must pay tax, wither one person owns 3 cars or 300 on the road he must pay the individual road taxes.

So cyclists who are using up our money for their cycle lanes should be paying damn tax because the roads in this country are a ****ing joke. I have no idea how many times I have damaged my car due to potholes.
