My daughter legitimately kicked my ass at Monopoly when she was 10. She was pretty smug about it too.

Monopoly ****ing pisses me off sometimes, but it's nothing compared to the rage induced comas I go into after a few hours of Risk.

i remember a friend of the family was bragging about how her kid was some sort of chess genius that always beats both her and husband so i was like wow really? the kid was like 7 so whenever she came over i had to see for myself. she was a smart little kid who gets sent to like robotics camp and stuff so it seemed somewhat plausible at the time. anyway i played her. she was **** man i beat her easily and i can't even beat the computer half the time.

Also, while I like my Chromebook for the most part, it's processor is pretty weak. For the most part it's not such a big deal, as it plays video decently. Google regularly provides updates that automatically download to your 'Book when you shut it down, and they actually improved the video playback, which had at first been a bit temperamental. But a few days ago their was another update, and it's completely ****ed video. Sometimes it's fine, but other times playback is choppy to the point of being unwatchable. I'll have to reload the page, or make the page its own window, or go to another tab and then go back, or some other ghetto ****, and it's pretty much a coin flip as to whether it'll work. How do you do that? I'm sure that it's hard to make an update that works perfectly, but to make one that ****s up that badly just makes them look incompetent on a level that makes Microsoft look like perfectionists. God damn you, Google. Fix my ****, and fix it now.

I always enjoyed Risk. Axis and Allies too. Then there's this one:

the way i like to play monopoly is the way my sister's husband family plays it. basically instead of waiting to land on all the right squares to buy them they start making deals with each other and trading assets and money to try to win. it makes it more interesting imo. not sure if that's how it's meant to be played though.

**** yes, on Axis and Allies. My friend gave me his copy of the game a while back, and every once and a while I'll pull it out and play by myself (sad). It's almost as entertaining to play against yourself. You can have countries betray their allies in an ever-changing cluster **** of shifting alliances that can last for days. Like the Calvinball of Axis and Allies.

Ever played any of the other A&A games? I remember there was a new version that came with destroyers, and I think maybe artillery. I'm pretty sure they updated starting troop deployments too, like making the Atlantic fleets more historically accurate (not putting the American carriers at Pearl Harbor). There was also a rule that somehow penalized Russia or Japan if one of them attacked each other. Then there was one about D-Day. Such a good series.

My brother was mostly responsible for getting me into the strategy games, and he had a few I never got around to playing, but more than likely he had that.

And don't feel bad. I've pulled mine out and played with it by myself at times too.

The end of the semester is always terrifying. I've got to write about 30 pages between two classes before next week. Combined with that and working all weekend, I'm not sure how I'm going to pull it off. Does anyone have a heaping bag of speed laying around, by chance?
