I finally bitched my way to a senior adviser or something and he helped me figure it out. Apple really screwed the pooch with this update. It's horrible. This customer service debacle was the cherry on top. I need to find a better option for a media player for my car. I don't want 5000 songs on my phone.

So this is the latest iPhone update you're talking about? I've been giving it the pass for a while now, glad my instincts were right.

As has been said, iTunes sucks. I've never liked it. Even Windows Media Player isn't where it should be. You'd think someone who knows how music should be organized and used in a music program would've created one by now.

Anyway, I hear you on the phone thing. I tried doing that via the Mirror Link software on my car receiver, but it was so choppy when syncing with my phone that I went out and bought a receiver with a USB port. Put everything on a thumb drive, and now I never have a problem. It's awesome, and not nearly the pain in the ass that it is in pulling your phone out all the time to sync it with your car receiver. Recommended.

Yeah except I only have an iPod touch. You should skip this. They changed everything. They're trying to be Spotify. It takes like 8 steps to put your damn sh*t on shuffle now.

I'm still annoyed that they got rid of coverflow.

Yup. It's atrociously bad.

This is ridiculous. I'm going to have to miss the first debate tournament of the year because my class has to spend a weekend in the wilderness "building a unified class identity". So instead of doing the school-adjacent thing I most enjoy, I'm going to have to spend a weekend with people I can't stand, i the woods, doing some combination of terrible outdoorsy things and terrible team-building things, probably without access to a not-disgusting shower. Fun!
