My students don't know how change margin size, set double spacing, or type inside the header in Word. They also don't know what CTRL+C, CTRL+V, or CTRL+Z do.

When I started university this year we were told all of our papers needed a 2.54 margin. I'm safe to say nobody in my entire class knew why they wanted it or how to do it, but luckily we have google for that. As far as the other things, yeah... those should be well known.
