Had you been around here long enough, you'd know this is well below our threshold for what is to be considered inappropriate.

Maybe I should change the rules so that they're not as easily mistaken by people who wish to use them as some sort of leverage for their own purposes.

In other words you have no answer to my question? It appears these rules have huge gaping holes in them

and you're willing to change for your own leverage and purpose. Smells of hypocrisy to me.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question... You asked about kindergarten, I said you reminded me of it. Meaning, you remind me of a kindergartner.

As far as changing the rules go, we write them in response to what we have to deal with. They are fluid, and adhere only to the health of the forums as a whole. Not individuals.
So far, our rules have worked out quite well... but apparently there needs to be some specification because a newb decides he can't understand why they're there in the first place, or what they really mean.

I'll reiterate my question for you then . . .

Would someone please explain to me why posting your Lyrics is ok but not your music?
How is posting your Lyrics not promoting yourself but posting your Music is promoting yourself?

Joining MusicBanter to promote your (or someone else's) music is also prohibited. Any accounts being used for promotion will be banned and their posts deleted. Links to music in signatures are allowed, provided the account isn't being used for promotional purposes.

Song promoters spam the hell out of their songs, in every forum, especially genre-relevant forums, and then they leave.

People writing poetry/lyrics don't.

And it's not because there's a lyrics forum. Believe me, song-promoters spam their stuff in all forums, especially genre-specific ones. Constantly.

It's not because there isn't a song-promotion forum, either.
Spammers don't care.
I've been modding here and other places long enough to know this. So have the other mods. If you can't handle that possibility, then I don't know what to tell you.
