The reason I would keep them in is to prevent them getting in fights which predominantly happen at night, as cats are nocturnal and territorial. I'd let them out during the day because uh... they're cats! They need to explore, socialise and get exercise. I couldn't have a cat indoors all the time, it's not natural.

One of my friends has a completely indoor cat because her dad heard a kitty getting knocked down by a car when he was young, they walk the cat on a leesh lmao.

I'm not sure if it's true that more fights happen with them at night. They're not nocturnal, they're crepuscular, which means they're active around dawn and dusk. I'd imagine that's when they're actually more likely to fight.

My GF has 4 cats that have never been outside since she lives right next to a busy street. Our singer has one cat (a Maine Coon) that comes and goes as he pleases. I'll drive up for practice and there he'll be sitting, waiting for me in the driveway. His name is Sarge, and he's the "coolest cat" I've ever met, plus he's HUGE.

My mom used to walk one of our cats on a leash almost twenty years ago. He'd just lay on the grass and roll around while my mom just stood there holding his leash. I feel sad that I was too young to enjoy how ludicrous it must have looked.

Hahah, my life was complete when I drove past her dad randomly walking the cat.

It's not as bad as being a 5 year-old girl witnessing a dead kitty on the road. I was devastated because I've been an obsessive cat lover all my life! I even bought a book about looking after cats the other day and I don't have any!

My nana does that exact same thing, she keeps 7 cats in an enclosure and lets them out into a caged run. When nana inherited my parents cats she got me to walk them on a leesh. She was so afraid of them running away and she had so many cats run over on the road in the past.

Shows how much I know! I would keep them in until 6-7am. But my best friends cat who lived with us used to always want out at 3-4am every single night!

Jesus man how long have you been waiting to use crepuscular in a sentence.

Haha, I had to look it up actually. I knew their waking times were dawn and dusk but I couldn't remember the word for that.
