Correct me if I'm wrong, but you "fixed" your mistake by using another "definition" of racism that was incorrect. There is a difference between racism and institutionalized racism, the latter of which being what you were actually referring to.
I'm not just trying to bust your balls, but this erroneous confusion of the definition of "racism" is widespread among a lot of people, and I think it's nonsense. It's the rationale behind saying that black people can't be racist, since they aren't in power. Aside from confusing people by using definitions that are conflicting, I think it's an unconscious attempt to make white people look bad (cause they're racist), while making minorities look superior. Since pretty much everybody (including most people who subscribe to your definition of "racism") associates racism with prejudice, using your definition puts the idea that minorities can't be prejudiced, unlike the white devil, since they can't be racist.
There is simply no need to redefine "racism", since "institutionalized racism" means the same damn thing.
