Senior or junior? I don't know much about what senior's stances were but junior is for the legalization of drugs despite being originally against it. Aside from that I don't really know his reasoning.

I'm pretty sure that was meant to be protected. It is just speech after all.

Slavery was pretty abhorrent, there's no way you can spin that otherwise. There were some fair slave owners, but they were few and far between. You are, however, correct in noting that often Africans would capture those of other and even their own tribes people and sell them to the white man, so the popular assumption that slavery was white man's domain is false.

Ummm who the hell would be happy being a slave even if you were treated somewhat close to fair?

Peasants back in the feudal ages were fine with it and they were pretty much slaves.

Status perception. People outside of the monastery regard the behaviours of nuns and monks to be absurd and far from fair, that doesn't mean the nuns and monks don't see justification in their actions.

We work based on a bartering system. If your worth is $7.25 an hour and a business doesn't want to pay you $7.25 they'll either try to barter down your price or not employ you. If your worth is shelter than you'd work for free provided they give you a place to stay. I don't really see whats so absurd about this notion at all.
