Absolutely no reason to feel dumb for liking that. So many members start a journal and then they just sit there. I think you were smart and chose a number like 25, high enough to allow diversity, but short enough to work within a reasonable amount of time. It's been over 2 years and I'm not even up to the 60's in my journal.

Sounds like we move at about the same pace.

Yeah, I mean I have power to change the number, but that'd kind of be a copout. If I updated it more than once a year it might help though.

I just got a 4-month internship with MLSE, which should be a great opportunity; thing is that I had to go through 3 interviews to get it, which is kind of scary when looking at the job market out there. I don't mind going through interviews, but having three separate meetings seems a bit excessive to me for such a short period of work, when I'm getting paid next to nothing for it as well.

Maybe you can encourage the Raps and the Leafs to win some trophies!

Yay, got my new apartment. Going in and signing a lease tomorrow and will be moving in on the 1st or 2nd. Get my own space, walk-in closet, dishwasher, washer and dryer, and most importantly.... HEATING!

My girlfriend and I found some guys BECU debit card and drivers license. We decided instead of leaving it in the street, we went to the nearest BECU and they're going to tell the guy that we returned his things to them for him to pick them up.

I know damn well that's what i would like someone to do if I lost my stuff.

Good for you. A few months ago I lost my driver's license, which was an absolute pain because I had to rely on other people and on the bus to get me around, and also my bike (which was subsequently stolen out of my front yard). But then a couple of weeks later I received a package in the mail from this lady, containing my driver's license, and also a bunch of candy and two movie tickets (like those gift ones), and a note saying how she found it in the parking lot a couple of days after I lost it. I thought it was super nice of her to send all that other stuff to me when she didn't have to :)

Scarlett O'Hara 01-16-2013 07:18 PM

Wow BD that's awesome, what a kind lady. Did she pop on a return addy? I would send her a thank you letter.

Yeah it was on the box. I sent her a big homemade thank you card.

LoathsomePete 01-17-2013 11:41 AM

Electricity in my apartment got turned on yesterday and by extension so did my baseboard heaters, so when I walked in this morning to drop off a few boxes before work, I was greeted by a blast of war air. I nearly cried I was so happy. Now I just need to move a couple of pieces of furniture and I'll be set. The thought of actually being able to sleep in just boxers and a t-shirt has me giddy.

Scarlett O'Hara 01-17-2013 11:44 AM

That's cute, I just sleep naked to be honest. I even do it in winter but with loads of blankets and a electric blanket. I forget that it's winter in your hemisphere!

Pete doesn't experience real winter where he lives though ;)

It's -12 C outside right now... which I think is like 10 F. And it's snowing a bit. It's colder than my freezer outside right now but I don't mind. The sun is out and it's been forever since we've seen it, lol!

I've been sleeping in sweatpants and a hoodie, as well as four blankets just to keep warm.

I don't live in Vancouver anymore, I live in Reno Nevada which is about 5000 feet above sea level. Last weekend our lows got down to about 8 F, which is about -12 C. I can deal with the cold because I have no control over that, but when there's no heat and no insulation in your home, there's this real feeling of helplessness as you continually pile on blankets and sweaters, but still never get beyond the barest minimum of comfort.

Oh man I just got lucky with something at work. Back in November I billed a client asking them to renew their resident agent service, but the cheap bastards said they didn't want to pay it and instead wanted to dissolve their company. Thing is though, I couldn't find any record of them saying "yes go ahead and dissolve my company because I'm too fucking cheap to pay $125 for a required service", nor could I find any record of getting paid for the dissolution, despite sending it off 3 times for filing (first time I filed the wrong thing, second time I forgot to sign the check, and third time I got it right). Anyways to make a boring story short, in addition to what I filed, I had to file another document to actually dissolve the company, so this company that I thought was dead, is actually alive and everything is well in the world.

I beat another false restraining order that was filed by my c*nt of an ex-wife.

I always feel weird about sleeping naked, you might have a random period that spoils the whole bed...;)

That's why it's good to keep track of them.

Today I have made a major accomplishment. I have finished the first complete draft of my sitcom pilot screenplay, after approximately two years of work.

Now, to divorce myself emotionally from it before it gets pissed on in critiques.

May I read it?

I got a call back from a job my friend is trying to hook me up with. He, in turn, heard it from someone I used to be good friends with as a kid. I must have been 6-7 years old. I hadn't seen him since then. I definitely recognized him. He said he could get anyone a job, and I do wonder if he was part of why I got called. Regardless, I'm pretty damn excited. You can work as much overtime as you want. You want to work 6am to 10pm? Shore! Why not. He said you can expect $900-$1200 every two weeks, depending on how long you want to work. Fuggin. Amazing.

Congratulations hun! Do you officially have the job? I have to admit, that job sounds pretty good money wise.

Thanks! :D I don't officially have it, but I'm confident. And yeah, I don't know if you can get any better than that as far as entry level jobs go. I used to be thrilled at the idea of getting $200 a week. Now I'll be getting over twice that. I don't have any real "bills" to worry about either. I just pay for my part of the phone bill and car insurance. In a few months I should have more than enough for a car.

Yay neat! That will be great to get a car. Too bad I still can't drive. But I will one day. My fingers are crossed for you!

You are. I don't think you realise how strong you come off. :)

Janszoon 06-17-2013 10:03 PM

I started a new job about two weeks ago and so far I love it. The work is extremely challenging, which I love. My co-workers are great, friendly, interesting people. The pay is a hell of a lot better than my last job. I feel like I'm learning a lot. Hell, I even enjoy the campus. I've worked in a lot of office complexes in my day, but this is the only one I'd describe as actually an attractive place to be.

Also, we adopted a kitten this weekend who just so happens to be the cutest thing on Earth. I'm sure I'll be posting picture of him soon. :)
