The Rejoice thread

I am a miserable old git but the amount of negativity that seems to surround me both socially, politically and online is staggering. Let's celebrate the good things in life, no matter how small.

Today: My fourteen year old son recieved some mock exam results from last term (they were back at school yesterday) and his Maths results were way above average. I have to admit that this is a surprise to us both but very welcome. He is also considering College after leaving school. This is a major result for me.

I had a listen to a much anticipated album from one of Metal's finest names and enjoyed it a lot.

I provided a few members with new music and that is extremely satisfying for me.

Urban Hat€monger ? 09-04-2008 06:00 PM

I finally managed to get hold of a Nuuk Posse album.

Inuit hip hop here I come :D

And I found a new Fall bootleg from 1981 that's better quality than any of their official live albums.

Life is good

Piss Me Off 09-04-2008 06:17 PM

A friend of mine is definitely going to Salford Uni and we've already confirmed that i should come down and visit for future Moz tours, and i can do 'the pilgrimage'. Good times :D

sleepy jack 09-04-2008 07:26 PM

I've been high at school 3 days in a row.

jibber 09-04-2008 11:28 PM

I went kayaking tonight and was hitting all my rolls, which is a great feeling as the last time out it felt as if i'd been knocked back to square one; felt like I did when i was first learning and didnt have a clue how to go about doing a roll. So being "on" today put me in a wonderful mood.

My old camera sold so I got a lovely $400 cheque

I bought new ski boots that fit me better than any boot i've ever had

my new ski bindings are coming in tomorrow, so they'll be mounted on my new skis this weekend

On sunday i'm planning on paddling a section of a river that until this point has really freaked me out. finally got the confidence to run it, and while it's a pretty mellow river for me this is a huge step.

In 4 1/2 months i'm going on a 7-10 day ski trip. we're going to a mountain that i've been dreaming of skiing for years. me and my friend have comitted to skiing a run that i've been dreaming of for years, but always kind of doubted whether i'd get the nerves/skill level to do it. This friend is a buddy from NZ whom i havent seen in almost 3 years. i'm stoked.

my school is integrating video into our program for the first time. lately i've been really interested in shooting video as well, so this news made me really happy.

i have a new macbook that my school gave me. it's the sh*t.

life's great.

savannah 09-05-2008 12:07 AM

i've been fishing almost everyday for the past two weeks

the weather is finally cooling off

we are finally getting rain

RoemerMW 09-05-2008 12:26 AM

I finally got a decent pair of headphones.

I got my bike fixed, so I can ride it everywhere again.

It's senior year, and I should be able to get straight A's this year for the fist time.

In a period of 3 hours, I got a hold of about 5 albums I've been trying to get for several months through the magic of the internet!

The temperature is finally going back down from high 70's-80's down to bearable (60's).

I'm going to get to write film reviews for my local paper, and get paid for it! Whoo!

And I'm 90% finished with shooting my short film.

Life is great at the moment

I'm hosting a three-kegger in ~4 hours. So far, there are 111 confirmed guests. I guarantee there will be well over 150 people in a six-person apartment. =)

I'm getting half an ounce of headies in a little while for bargain-basement prices. :thumb:

Isn't it only considered sex if it's with another person?

I'm going to see Mudhoney, OM, and the Crackpipes tomorrow, then on sunday i'll go to the aquarium with my gf. But tonight me and some friends are going to order a pizza and watch an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, life is good.

School week is over. I have a guitar lesson tomorrow. I am almost done a book, and the next book on my reading list is Ron Paul's most recent.

BAD! BAD! BAD! Week was BAD! RNC is evil. AMERICA IS SCREWED OH NO!

Sorry, I am not a very optimistic person. :(

Alfred 09-05-2008 10:10 PM

I'm going to hang out with some friends at the fair tomorrow.

I think I'm into Cancer Bats. I'll have to download their latest album. Cheers to PMO for unintentionally reminding me that I need to check them out.

Life's good.

Thrice 09-06-2008 05:28 AM

I just bought a plane ticket for my best bud to fly here from SF CA. I havent seen him in a few years, so I'm pretty pumped. And an added bonus: He's a sick ass tat artist now, so he's bringing the gun and were going to get down.
How can life get better getting tatted by your best friend over a few beers and bowls for a week.

FireInCairo 09-06-2008 06:54 AM

I'm moving out for the first time next Friday. Gonna live in student halls during my first year of Uni, I really cannot wait. I'm really looking forward to the whole experience, it's exactly what I need in my life just now. Freshers Week begins a week on Monday, I'm buzzing for what is pretty much gonna be a weeklong party in the halls of residence.

Kevorkian Logic 09-09-2008 09:38 PM

my bf told me he was falling in love with me and I really like him so it made me really happy.

i'm not pregnant.

I've gotten A's on every single one of my tests.

Sgt Pepper 09-09-2008 10:59 PM

I am gonna go to a Beatle's tribute concert next wednesday, and I was complimented at a work meeting in front of all my colleagues.

[MERIT] 09-09-2008 11:05 PM

I'm in love with an amazing girl. I've never been happier with anyone or anything in my life.

Dr_Rez 09-09-2008 11:09 PM

I went to a new psychologist and got diagnosed with Biolar disorder type 1. O wait you wanted good news...

Have none!

Kevorkian Logic 09-09-2008 11:11 PM

If they find the right ones for you to take. And im afraid that the meds will make me completely out of it. I mean i have done my fair share of drugs and been out of it for a good part of my life, but that was because i chose to. This is different.

Do you happen to know what the specific drugs for this do? aka side afects

WWWP 09-10-2008 12:45 AM

I would like to rejoice the fact that I am severely happy these days.

there are some drugs that will make you feel out of it, but you need to tell your doctor if it makes you feel out of it, and he can switch your meds. There's tons of different combinations of medicines that you can take...

And yes I do know the side effects of about every single medicine for it you can take, considering i have been pretty much on every single medicine that you can take for it. Which ones are you on? Or which ones are you looking at taking? I'd be happy to tell you about the side effects of them.

Thanks. And ill let you know in a day or so, he is still deciding.

Kevorkian Logic 09-10-2008 01:44 PM

mk, i'm happy to help, i know how disconcerting it can be when you first find out.

Everything's going great at my job, just got my bonus, and my house is getting cleaned up today. YAY!

On a side note, it looks like the hurricane coming our way is actually going to hit us this time, and I'm actually happy about it because it's going to drop the temperature about 10-15 degrees. Can't wait for winter already!

Basically, I had a pretty damn good day.

sweet_nothing 09-10-2008 11:06 PM

Because of this hurricane I dont' have school tomorrow or Friday, time to party!

That's great! They won't let us even think about going home early today from work, but thankfully they are excusing us tomorrow. I was afraid they wouldn't.

We are totally going to have a hurricane party at my house. Wootwoot!

sweet_nothing 09-11-2008 02:37 PM

Dude I was thinking the same thing it's gonna have the tag line "this party is going to blow you away", you can all come to my hurricane party. :thumb:

WWWP 09-11-2008 03:42 PM

I'm so there.

Sgt Pepper 09-11-2008 04:04 PM

Chips, dip, weiners, high wind speeds, it's all there. Who should be the DJ though?
