The last time I did a show with a certain theatre company was in 2008. I kept wanting to come back, but they were always doing shows I was moderately interested in when other companies were doing shows I was absolutely ecstatic to be a part of. Last time I encountered the director/head of the company, I had just finished doing a Kentucky Arts Council event as the featured performer, and had been given wine vouchers as compensation...then I was supposed to see the midnight production of this company's show afterwards - so, needless to say, I was a little bit tipsy.

The director saw me in the lobby, recognized me as 'tipsy', and didn't say a word to me. Another actor who'd attended the Arts event and was a bit buzzed got torn a new asshole by the director shortly thereafter and told, "NEVER come into my theatre drunk again."

I was scared, and opted not to audition for the Christmas show as a result.

Well, they're doing Chicago now, and I couldn't pass up that opportunity. After spending over an hour in the vicinity of the theatre, I finally mustered up the courage to walk into the building 15 minutes before auditions.

As I turned inside the building to walk into the actual theatre, the director walked out of his office, stopped me, and began to talk to me.

He said he was super-excited that I was going to be doing more shows with him, and that he'd heard that I was absolutely fantastic in Laundry and Bourbon - which, he said, didn't surprise him, because I'm absolutely fantastic in everything he's ever seen me in.

He's kind of a frightening gentleman, and I'm always uncomfortable around him because he carries this air of authority that's intimidating - I mean, I'm more at ease around police officers when I'm stoned. BUT he didn't mention the drunk in his theatre incident at all, and just said he'd missed me and all of that jazz (LOL - Chicago pun) which made me so comfortable.

And I don't know if it was me performing open mic stuff, but I was completely comfortable and not shaking at all for the vocal audition.

Granted, I did sustain a pulled muscle learning this insane choreography which was way too difficult for an audition, but the singing portion, for the first time in my life, went swimmingly. He even remarked after the audition that he'd seen some "old faces who've really come into their own" and stuff, and smiled at me.

That made me feel great.

I still don't think I'll get Velma Kelly, but I really want the foreign lady who's in cell block tango and later, on trial. That character...ahhh!

Today, after struggling, I finally have a computer of my own and I have the Hard Disk with my music back. this is glorious.

I'm liking Ubuntu Studio, too!

My old high school Biology partner is currently leading the New York Jets in rushing yards for the preseason! (Actually, he'd be leading with this rush alone!)

Pretty amazing run, right there. :)

Not a fan of Mark Sanchez, but I'll be rooting for Chris to get in every single game. Hope this is his year!

oh man I have never felt better in my life. Everything is working in my favor right now! I'm at an amazing school, I made friends and I currently have the opportunity to potentially get together with the guy I'm crushing on. I've never felt so optimistic before.

Try not to worry too much Dayvan.
If anything can go wrong, it most probably will.
It's the law.

Yeah, when I get this feeling of immense optimism and happiness it immediately turns to anxiety because I know something is going to go wrong...

Haha, no but really, that's awesome :) Happy for you!
