skeletorrz 09-20-2008 01:54 PM

ProggyMan 09-20-2008 02:04 PM

Macs are compatible with any mouse...

skeletorrz 09-20-2008 02:05 PM

yeah but then what's the point? you need the mighty mouse or it wont look all macky

Akira 09-20-2008 02:10 PM

Sigh...

skeletorrz 09-20-2008 02:19 PM

Never mind man. You can't mess around with this guy.

The Unfan 09-20-2008 02:30 PM

For most things PC, for recording stuff mac.

debaserr 09-20-2008 02:54 PM

i prefer to not overpay like crazy to purchase a brand name computer. i build my own.

Fruitonica 09-20-2008 09:53 PM

I love my PC, but in the future I might think about running both operating systems with a hard drive partition. Seems like a pretty flexible option.

Fyrenza 09-20-2008 11:33 PM

mac for any graphics apps

pc for everything else

FireInCairo 09-21-2008 02:57 AM

mac for ease of use, graphic apps ,recording gear and virtually anything to do with creative arts
plus it has spore

pc for viruses, cryptic error messages, needless and inexplicable system crashes and decent computer games

Urban Hat€monger ? 09-21-2008 03:16 AM

I've had one virus in 9 years and that took all of 15 minutes to get rid of.

I've always seen mac users as the Coldplay fans of the computer world.

FireInCairo 09-21-2008 04:28 AM

Someone had to say it! :thumb:

Fruitonica 09-21-2008 07:23 AM

Honestly, my computer's virus ridden nature (my fault) only makes me feel more affectionate for it. There's something mysterious and unpredictable about it now.

I spent the last two weeks with a completely blank desktop, no items or start bar, and ran everything off the windows task manager. When I turned it on a couple of days ago it had fixed itself.

Spore is for PC too.

Akira 09-21-2008 07:46 AM

Why do people automatically assume that PC=Microsoft and Windows?

Lol.

may not have been viruses

there are lots of probs with apps conflicting that act just like a virus would especially when you upgrade something like java

Seltzer 09-21-2008 08:32 AM

Common sense applies here really - you can blame Windows all you want for viruses, but the reality is that it's the way you use your computer which is usually at fault. Don't click on dodgy popups, don't go to crack sites, don't use IE etc etc... and you'll be fine.

debaserr 09-21-2008 09:14 AM

if people actually spent half an hour finding out free ways to protect their computers then there would be a lot less complaining

Akira 09-21-2008 09:17 AM

But Mac users on the whole like the fact that they are so easy to use, so they don't wanna be actually actively working out how to do things.

I've recently left a forum that was heavily filled with Mac fanboys. You should have heard some of the bull**** they used to say about Mac how they never crashed etc.

debaserr 09-21-2008 09:24 AM

theres a mac fanboy on every block it seems. especially on college campuses, pretentious *******s that know everything.

simplephysics 09-21-2008 11:23 AM

I find PC'S are alot easier to work with. One of the art schools I applied to actually made Macbooks mandatory, bastards.

Sparky 09-21-2008 02:39 PM

<3 ubuntu

It may not be as easy, but its virus-free and totally customizable.

i use internet explorer and my computer isn't fucked up. i don't really understand why everyone hates on IE, it works fine.

Uh, they do never crash.

I've known plenty of Macs to crash, that's just a stupid idealogical belief the fanboys have.

The forum was for a podcast that actually went out live via a Mac and everyone of the fanboys were baffled when the show stopped and it was revealed the Mac crashed.

ProggyMan 09-21-2008 05:09 PM

My point is that they crash a hella of a lot less than PCs.

Akira 09-21-2008 05:11 PM

Nope. It's all about how you use them.

And once again, people assuming PC=Windows.

It's not so much that using IE will attract trouble on its own... it's just that if you do venture into dodgy areas of the interwebz which are rife with viruses/spyware, IE will not save your ass.

pandacop 09-21-2008 08:03 PM

Yeah you wont get viruses if you are smart about the sites you go to.

Fyrenza 09-21-2008 08:31 PM

the only way to get a virus is to download it

dont d/l from sites you dont know or trust and youll be fine

nah, my school is all macs and they are incredibly buggy pieces of ****. I know you would expect school computers to be a little rough but seriously, macs have never impressed me with their stability.

ashtray 09-22-2008 03:02 AM

My macbook has been running 1 year and 40 days (according to my bit torrent stats) and I've had it for 1 year and 80 days. I only turn it off to clean off the nicotine stains.

FireInCairo 09-22-2008 03:06 AM

the fact remains that macs dont tend to get viruses no matter where you travel in the vast realm of the internet.
What does What does PC actually offer?
ive only met poor and frustrating events.

ashtray 09-22-2008 03:12 AM

I forgot to mention I have burned at least 500 discs with my macbook though I had to get it repaired it was just the burner. But I think P.C's are better for people that know computers well, macs are just much more user friendly thats really about it. Mac's suck a$$ for gaming not to mention the vast amount of great homebrew and freeware available for P.C.

Again, you're equating PCs with Windows. Unix is far more stable and safer than windows and OSX. Besides, when I used to run windows I never had a virus or any problem. Know why? Because I know how to work a computer, I know what is safe and unsafe.

pandacop 09-22-2008 09:57 AM

PC's are really not that complicated. Just some times you have to be patient and figure things out. If you have any computer skills at all you should be able to use PC. I do not see anything very special about Macs only thing I find cool is Garage Band.
