I don't really bring this up myself, because I don't really care if anyone knows what I choose to eat and not eat; it's my life, and my choice, and it makes no difference to anyone else. Anyways, I do agree that we are supposed to eat meat. I see nothing inherently wrong with eating meat. But, I am a vegetarian because I believe the industry takes away from the value of life for a capitalistic purpose, and I'd just rather take a step back and not be a part. I just don't want to put my money in their pockets because I don't believe in that idea. Life is more then a commodity to me.

Though, with that said, you can't really get around that 100% unless you just choose not to take part in almost every facet of our society. Not to mention, that by eating soy protein, you're more or less supporting the destruction of forest. If I'm not mistaken (please correct me if I am), one of South America's (?) biggest commodities is soy, and in order to make more, they simply burn away trees to have more land. Without the all the forest in South America, the weather of the world would be thrown in complete disarray.

So with all that said, my lifestyle is still in the works in that sense. I'm trying to get myself more informed on all the areas of this subject so I can do what I feel is right. I'm not really one to say anyone else is wrong though; who am I to say I'm more right then you are? What is right anyways? It's simply an opinion.

Humans are scavengers more than they are omnivors. Which is why we all settle for an utterly unethical food industry. You know things are messed up when kosher meat processing facilities are hit for labor and health violations.

Not sure where you live, but since Upton Sinclair's The Jungle illuminated inequities in the meat packing industry (and the susbsequent Pure Food and Drug Act passed in 1905), the food preparation is (generally) much safer than a normal kitchen.

Unethical, I'm not sure how. Unhealthy, hell yes. But unclean? No.

I wouldn't say we've gotten so great. You have people going "Let's feed the old and sick cows who's meat we can't sell to cows who's meat we can sell" and only after a bit of mad cow hysteria they realize that was kind of stupid.

I'm a vegetarian, but not because I care about animals. Meat just isn't tasty unless it is buffalo wings. Who cares anyways...

Dead flesh is still dead flesh and I still wouldnt want to eat it. Im vegan.. for heath, ethical and environmental reasons, and because i dont like the idea of putting bits of an animal, or stuff thats come out of an animal, into my mouth.

Why do many vegetarians buy meat substitutes that look like meat-burgers and the like? Kind of defeats the object really. I don't mind vegetarian food at all and many times have vegetable curries and pizzas etc but what I don't like is Vegetarians who preach. In fact anyone who preaches and tell's me how to live my life annoy the hell out of me.

Theres no reason why, just why not? If burgers were never invented someone may have had the idea of making a pattie of vegetables and spices and sticking it in a bun. It tastes good and its convenient! I do alot of veggie catering and nothing is easier to perpare than burgers.

Why buy a meat burger, when you get one that looks just as good, tastes just as good, has zero fat content, is often cheaper and doesnt contain dead animal?

Because they'll looked like a plastic dog toy not a burger, taste nothing like a burger and are actually more expensive.
