Accents (hip-hop, American, French, irish, quote)

@mojo: Yeah, that's sort of the reaction I was getting when I first moved to this town. Laughter and ridicule....bastards.

Plus, apparently we (islanders) speak really fast which makes it even more difficult for others to understand...:\

Also, I've noticed that I'm better at expressing myself using English than with official Croatian, probably because I do most of my communicating on line and read almost all books in English (I like it more than Croatian. :\). However, I'd say my forte is Cronglish....

That wasn't very funny...

I have an off the subject question for you: How come you only seem to talk about English-language bands? I'd love to hear about some of Croatian music I've never heard of.

Yeah, that sounds about right on both counts. I'm not actually a Geordie but its all the same to foreigners. I also have quite a weak accent and so people don't tend to have a hard time understanding me or at least I don't think so. However once I get pissed that can change.

People kept asking me to read the Geordie quotes they put on the back of bottles of Brown Ale when i was in Australia and then laughing at me. Irish people for some reason seem to like us to say certain things or explain certain terms or phrases. Alot of them are cheeky bastards though and just think its funny to ask me to say 'Byker Grove' every half an hour for their entertainment.

Because I'm Americanized in more sense than one. I hardly listen to any Croatian music. Plus, we're notoriously bad musicians. I've made a thread about a Croatian hip-hop band once but I can't really see anyone having an interest in their music. :\
